Surprising revelation in regards to rvr and scenerios.

Coming back to this game last week or so, I figured I would hate the scenerio grind for rvr weapons and still love the orvr.

Funny thing is I think I'm liking sc's more overall because I get to know our fellow guildmates and how they play.
IE I always have wanted to play and get to know how Korzak liked his dmg spec'd 2H Ironbreaker. Thing is I NEVER once really got to play with him. Now I have and I look forward to playing with him more in scenarios.

Granted I still haven't gotten my 1st rvr weapon, but I am VERY surprised I like scenarios this much. Though I do want to point out, I'm not doing them as a grind fest. I do sc's when I have a spare 1 or 2 hours at night and when there's no orvr planned. Also I may not feel this way once I get my warlord or royal weapon, but I'm more optimistic than I thought I would be.

Orvr on the other hand, unless Daghdre/I/Someone else leads a guerrilla style warband, seems just like a boring zergfest. Granted this means a TON of free renown, but ultimately it's fairly boring. There definitely has been plenty zerg vs zerg fights and these are fantastic to be a part of, but for every one of these, there's probably 3 to 4 just mindless zergs taking one BO after another.

Bottomline: I am getting a much better mix than I ever expected to. At this point I feel like my rvr in this game is 50sc/50orvr and that's probably what the devs were trying to achieve. Now if I can get better at figuring out how to lead guerrilla style warfare effectively without feeling like I'm doing RvE half the time, I'd be EXTREMELY happy.

So you do you want to start an SC event with pre-mades? I'll join you if I can.

Yeah simple fact is the SCs feel a bit more rewarding to a lot of people, myself included. When the warbands are really out it can be fun but it mostly comes down to brute force and who can throw the most bodies. Don't get me wrong I love roaming the lakes for the unknown encounters but I think you really see what your classes are made of in the smaller scale. Which you cant get consistently without one sides zerg rolling face when it starts getting good. And no prearranged duels I find lame as well. They need to bring back 6v6 SCs again but not Ironclad, that would make my day. So enjoy the SCs but don't let it become a grind like Vamp said.

Scenarios are great fun and the weapons given for them are the best in the game now. I am having a blast doing them. ORVR is fun too. I am glad I have a varieties of ways the fill my gaming time. I am even now starting to do some PVE. Overall, the game is much better now than it was just a few months ago and offers up so many different options. Premade Mondays sound good to me! I just hate to schedule events because I never know when I will draw wife or kid aggro. I would hate to schedule an event and not be on for it because my wife thinks its a good night to talk to me about her friend's new wedding dress, the next Twilight movie coming out, or something else equally important.

Oh Brunswik oh how I understand thee. Tonight I was trying to lead an IC group and my gf calls in the middle of it and decides she wants to talk about all the possible colors she thinks are good combinations for her bedspread and sheets. ...and this is like the 10th time we've talked about it. I'm pretty much tapped at this point for any further comments. My biggest contribution to the conversation was the "I'm-not-really-listening" 'that sounds great honey--Why don't you go ahead and do that?' Of course at this point I don't have a CLUE wtf I'm saying this to-I'm just trying to heal 14 players is all and kill the destruction king. Yeah really for sc's I have to wait until the gf is asleep so I don't get any interruptions. Planning sc nights really doesn't work. Besides pickup sc's really do end up pretty well. I think 1/10 I've actually had to fight really nasty premades. Most of the time it's pugs or premades I can beat with some other decent players.

Scenarios have always been mah favorite part of the game. Though ah guess it may not feel that way against a double military premade :). Some scenarios always seemed to suck the enjoyment out of them though, logrins & thunder, etc., with their removal everyone's scenario enjoyment should improve too, leading to more peeps doing scenarios leading to faster queues. Best Regahds, Dwooid of Caledor

I like scenarios if I go with a group I know even if sometimes that group is TWO of us. LOL! Just makes it a little more fun. Been rather hit or miss on ORvR lately too. Of course, I've had days like yesterday that were just bad attitude days no matter what I did. LOL! Sorry about that to anyone on vent. I should have gone to bed at 6:30 rather than 9:30 like I did do. On a good note, the third run into the city got me in an instance starting from scratch with people that had a bloody clue. We whooped destro so hard I had to wonder if they were there or not as compared to the first one where we coudn't get out of our spawn point the entire time. Managed to win the last SC I was in before I crashed so didn't feel entirely grumpy. Only mostly grumpy. LOL! So if I'm on, I'll jump into SCs and what not with people if not already in an alliance group.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

I've never been a fan of scenarios, probably because my SW is spec'd entirely range/offense, and almost no defense (great for oRvR seiges... but awful for melee). But, I've spent the last 2 months grinding through scenarios for the weapon rewards. Estimated 430 SCs to get my Warlord bow, and I'm about 30 SCs toward the Royal one... So, I think I have about 180 more to go... Anyway, after doing that many of them over and over, I've started to find the out of the way sniping location, and the scenarios have become less of a death-spam festival... (some are just melee farms, so I can't help those). I guess what I'm trying to say that I hate them less than I used to... heh heh...

Hey Stoat, how about helping out a wayward SW with those scenario sniping locations? :)

Nothing special really - I just hadn't been watching the environment closely enough... heh heh... Most flags are within site of someplace off to the side, but within bow-range... Most folk (myself included) make a bee-line for the flags, and aren't looking off to the sides, so look for ledges to get on or trees to get in In Reikland Factory the middle flag has the upper catwalks, and there is the elevated bridge between the two north flags. At the docks, I sometimes get into the tunnel that goes under the middle flag. Ive seen people jump onto the roof over the docks, but I've never been able to get up there. Caledor woods... not many places to hide in there... But there is a ledge Northwest of the flag (you aren't hidden, but Destro has to run around to get to you). The Woods on the east are too far away from the action to attack from - but when our spawn is camped, I will run down the east side, and take the flag from the south... Serpents Passage - There is the south end of the central hill, but it usually gets swarmed, and doesn't offer any cover... heh heh... I haven't found any good places there either... Logrunds Forge - right next to each flag, there are 2 ledges covered with pipes and equipment. You can get up one ledge, but I haven't figured out how to get on the other yet. You have to jump on boxes to get up there, and you can hide behind the pipes and hit enemies in the flag area
