Wow, on paper it sounds like a lot of fun - I'll have to wait for you guys to give your input on what it plays like. :) Of course, if this works, it'll only get people wanting the other four cities to be finished so that we can play along side the other leaders as well ;)
Told ya it is badass :D
Rather interesting, but gotta love people asking the same questions over and over without reading FAQs that are linked. ::chuckles:: Of course, some aren't answered yet, but I'm sure we'll see how it goes.
Where did you see an FAQ Briseadh im looking all over for it.
I'm kind of meh on the whole thing as described. From what I've read it's all more BO humping, kill more NPCs and some strangeness about characters becoming champions and getting bigger....cute gimmick but not enough to keep me interested for long. And I haven't really seen anybody address the issues of empty instances or AFKers or premades vs PUGS. Looks like this game is about to take a turn for the worse again, but we'll see how it actually plays. I may be pleasantly surprised.
Well, they had a link for it a couple times. Crap, forgot who linked it, but it still don't answer everything. It's on page 3 and 4 by one of the oracles who repeated it in hopes to alleviate SOME of the questions that kept repeating. I'm seriously thinking the answer to how you wind up in the city is that if you are in a warband you stay in it. And all this PuG vs Premade - how the hey is Mythic going to know that other than some HUGE gobliegook of code that figures out if a warband came in as one or as 24 individuals or anything in between. I wouldn't want to be the one programming that. I already have enough programming nightmares of eras gone by to try it in this new era. LOL! ----------------------- On another note, I have the test version of the program set up on my computer now. I just haven't figured out how to get on a test server. Maybe they were locked when I tried to get on. Will need some help before next Thursday to be ready for this. And to top it off, this will be after one busy day at work where I get to see if an automated suite of equipment can really work from start to finish. Nothing like watching a huge robot arm slam stainless steel bins around after it gets stupid due to bad programming on the vendors part. LOL!
I could indeed be completely wrong, but it didn't sound to me like you wouldn't be able to group up with your pre-made. It sounds like it's going to be the forced warband issue where you don't actually have somebody who can change loot rules, etc. Of course, this could be bad if you can't switch people around, but at the same time, from my own experiences, people generally will ask others to leave one party and join another in order to spread healing around a bit. From the sounds of it, it's going to be exactly like queueing up for a scenario.
Agree with Siovhan, the mechanics of the changes seem follow all the existing (or soon to be existing in the case of the quitters debuff) mechanics of a regular scenario. To that end, I would assume that entering the City Siege would be no different than entering a standard scenario - if you have a premade group or warband, they would have their places reserved in the same cue until they all either enter or give up their place. Of course this is also the current siege system, so leaves open all the issues we already have - if the scenario/instance is already half full when the premade WB Leader enters, then only the first half the premade warband that enters is going to end up together there. I still have bad memories of joining an Ironclad Scenario solo, and getting abused by a premade because I was taking up the place of one of their group (due to being first in, the premade only got 5 spots in the scenario reserved for them).
Looks like fun to me. I dont have a problem with the warband thing either way. If you can load your pre-made fine, if its all pugs then thats fine too. I pug sc's all the time anyway, sometimes your the windshield sometimes your the bug. Just as long as we actually fight and not spend the whole time chasing some bomb carrying midget around.
Good read, and as long as pre-existing WBs stay together I think it sounds a lot more exciting than what we have now. Bomb carrying midgets indeed!!!!
