I've been playing Rift on and off since May, and only recently moved my characters to Faeblight. Coming from an on-going 4+ yr period of loyalty to a really close knit, family-friendly casual guild in WoW (one of those ones that's been around 6+ years and is more like a family than a raid group & I still keep in touch with), I had been having alot of trouble finding something that matched that experience in Rift...and that was the one thing that had really been a thorn in my side considering I loved so many things about Rift. I've been around in a couple different guilds, all of which advertised as welcoming and family-friendly, only to be disappointed. I'm not going to bore anyone with the stories - maybe my standards are high, but as a former guild leader and raid officer, I expect people of the guild to represent the values of the guild to everyone, even strangers who may or may not be agreeable, and I expect leaders to hold everyone to that high standard.
In my time on Faeblight, I've seen Gaiscioch around on both sides. Sunday/Monday, I took the plunge, added Tanaquil to the guild, and hoped for the best.
Last night's event brought me back to my old experiences in my close-knit family guilds. Fog even reminded me a bit of one of my favorite leaders! (heh) Even though I couldn't help much with the high level rifts, I was able to stand back, toss around some heals, rez and join in the fun. Everyone was friendly, thoughtful, and really represented the guild well. As a former leader in a 40 man+ raid group, I can appreciate the difficulties that come with herding so many cats, and I was extremely impressed with the professional and polite attitudes of all the leaders. It was exactly what I would have expected of my own leaders.
I look forward to joining with you in more events, getting Tana to 50 so I can help out even more, and becoming a part of this obviously awesome family.
Now to get Tanaquil to show up on the guild site so I can track my participation! I have enough difficulties keeping track of my billable hours for work so I'm going to have to stay on top of that! :-)
