10 Man Raid Grp

Not stepping on toes here :) Adren and Olora have been working hard on the 10 man DH run the last few weeks and kudos to them and the grp for their achievements (Which I have been lucky enough to be a part of). However, as we see the defiant ranks swell, a single 10 man grp is not enough anymore. My idea here is to prep a 2nd 10 man grp and down the content, then merge with Adren's grp later for the 20 man.

If you want to raid, and have no objections to high repair bills :) please post below the following info

I am not hardcore - but standard raid rules apply, No DRAMA, No Rude/Foul Language, No Raging, No Rage Quitting, No disrespecting the Raid.

If you cant be cool with that, Ill just kick you, and find others who can. I can bang my head on the same encounter for 3 hours, but I cannot abide the elitest behavior/Nerd Rage.

I'd like to sign my cleric Astraiel up, however she is far from raid ready. role - DPS (with a 'bit' of heals) definitely not fit to be a true healer Spec - Sentinquisicar since the beginning and trying out Inq/Cab Hit/Focus 176 SP - 745 Sp Crit hit - 344 Wis 361 Int 251 ANY time, ANY day, although I love going on the TLS and Saga events. 57/grandma (yes its a sex now lol)/west side of the Great White North (but it rarely gets white in my neighborhood, just really, really wet) I am anything but a hardcore player. But I do want to give raiding a real try in this game. I like exploring and actually reading the quest texts. I get totally distracted by screams of agony from lowbies and go rushing off to help. I also have a bad habit of lurking around ongoing RPs and being a peeping tomasina. O.o P.S --- am the world's WORST healer, which is why I do DPS.

Love the Gaiscioch family events on Tues/Thurs so dont want to miss them if possible.

Malle cleric healz - main spec: sent/warden (will work on additional heal specs as i can) wis 582/SP 1182/Spell crit 454; unbuffed my permanent schedule will be working every Sat./Sun. so i can't raid those days. other days should be able to. my local time = server time. i currently have no DPS spec that is raid-ready. and no gear. so you can't count on me for that, sorries. cheers :) [i want to be on the B team, i am mellow/casualcore]

K.. so editing after seeing that half the thread is healers so thought about it and in all honesty Arrya is actually better geared than Bellaa and I LOVE barding <3 Her stats are something like: 276 Hit, 500ish dex, ap & crit around 550+ .. she's 51 bard with some other things that I'll need to tweak and also has a MM spec & an Assassin/Rift spec. **I'd like to do raid healing, but can MT heal or DPS as needed on Bellaa.

Hey I tried to sign up as an alternate for tomorrow's 10 man (Fri 25th) but it says i don't have any eligable characters. I claimed my toon and all but idk how to work this website. So I'll sign up as an alt or for the second group what ever. Thyth DPS Warrior Some one send a msg with instructions on how to get my toon rolling on this website. Thurs I can do as of now. best time for me 7 server. I could make it by 6 but just barely. Sun is ok for the next 2 weeks after that idk.

Omhasiz rogue marksman hit 241 anytime during the day for the week or after about 4:30 server time for weekends mostly anyime but occasionaly i have to work in the morning on either saturday or sunday for a few hours

With this many people interested, obviously we cannot all fit into a 10 man :) Is there any interest in breaking into 2 10 man raids?

i'd be interested in one of the two raids. do we have two raid leaders?

Currently here is an abbreviated list of everyone who's offered/posted for the second defiant 10-man raid group...posting what people listed more as a main spec/preferred (apologies if I misinterpreted postings for raiding specs). Vandy I think this is a great idea, and one way to ensure that more guildies get included on things such as this. We downed the 1st DH boss tonite with a Full Guild Group :) Gratz to all that attended. Gratz to : Loredane, Jazin, Abi, Jylar, Aissis, Kalend, Eeers, Bashre and Arrya - Well Played! On our 1st attempt at whatsherface (the 2nd boss) We got her to 47% and called it a night. We also had a scheduling snafu - and we missed gettin some people in the group that wanted to do it. That is something I will work on. Its a shame the game has limitations in place because I would take everyone. I am considering an ALT list, a 2nd group of 10 - or leap froggin DH and GP with 2 grps (Grp 1 in DH for week 1, Grp 2 in GP, Grp 2 in DH next week and Grp 1 in GP). IF we CANT field a full 2 groups yet, allowing ALTS in to fill out grp 2 or something like that. I am looking for any other ideas on balancing group time because I dont want to force anyone out.

I had a feeling we had this many able bodies to do these on Defiant side. I finally got Ladasach to 50 so not ready for this yet, but definitely will be working on leveling her. She will be available as dps and healing someday in the near future. For now, I'll enjoy your tales and knowledge and look forward to being yet another body that can be thrown at the enemy. ;) I actually do have my first piece of gear with 47 focus on it. =) Won the roll for that somewhere along the line in an expert or raid rift. Anyway, I'm so bloody casual with my playing, I don't know when I'll make it to this level.

I recommend posting next week on the calendar for both days. I like the idea of swapping between DH and GP. Maybe having people on standby if someone needs to leave early or somethin' as well is one suggestion.

I think, swapping between one zone and another is ok once we get the hang of things, learning to work as a unit, etc. To make a good group you need continity, swapping people in and out could become a problem. Learning to work as a unit is key to raiding. But making a second group would be great. Taking alts. iffy. You get into some issues swapping alts etc. Rolling on loot can become bad news, if say an alt won something over a main who has been there. Hate to get into that.

Though I agree with Abbi.. (Little miss word of caution hehe <3 ) .. I also tend to think how boring things can get doing the same thing over and over, adding that extra zone will not only teach us things for the other, but keep us fresher. Also, how often have you been on a run or whatever and found yourself saying, "Hey, this reminds me of and we did this or that and it worked great ..... " so learning too by doing more than the one would be an added benefit. (Though as Abbi said about getting the hang of things, I'm more so thinking getting that other group together and then implementing the idea of swapping weeks) I don't think there is any worry about working as a unit, people won't be swapping in and out unless someone isn't there, and for the second group it would be the same way. And running the instances afterwards only reinforces that same "oneness". Also, I think because of lockouts perhaps it's better for alts to fill in from the other group when possible (more so because its the same person behind the char, so learning the play styles of the other group will only benefit for bigger raids way on down the line) .. IF there isn't another not in a group to fill in. <--- though that could be a loot issue when you have someone who is there all the time vs someone filling in. Regular members of the group should get preference over someone who is a fill in, maybe that could also go along the lines of alt loot. I only say this because there should be some sort of benefit or .. I can't think of the right word, but for those who have been there through all or most of it over someone who hasn't put in the time. From those I know in the first group, none of us are the greedy sort and always help each other in any way we can, and I don't want it to sound like we would be that way, it's more of a acknowledgement to the one who has been there, not anything against the one who would be filling in. (I hope that is making sense) As far as alts go, we talked about this before and personally I think any main gets dibs over an alt. The only exception would be in the case of that main not needing it where an alt might, so the alt might get a need roll over a greed for the others in the group that couldn't use it. I think so long as this is stipulated ahead of time it wouldn't even become an issue. Just some things I'm thinking.. sure a lot of this is a bit further on down the line, but thinking ahead can help keep issues at bay. Also thinking as well.. what about weekends(days). I know some can't be here at all on weekends, but for some weeknights are inconvenient and also we have some European types who've expressed interest but even as early as it is for us, 4:30 server, it's a late start for them, so perhaps like noon server might work well. I have been encouraging people to post their interest here instead of just sending tells so that you know better how many would like to participate and are raid ready. (or as some have, want to participate once they are) I was going to say just my 2 cents, but it was more like my 20 .. :P lol

Oh also duh! Grats to everyone on not only downing that boss under really "odd" circumstances, but getting the second (whatsherface) boss under 50 on only one go with never having done it is a very good showing! Also, Van... you've done a VERY good job pulling this and all of us together. I know you've got others helping in a very co-operative effort, but it's been you standing up there making the final decisions and I wanted you to know what a great job you've done. To me, a good leader isn't someone who stands there telling people what to do for all the world to see and bow to, but someone who considers advice from others or criticism even .. and then acts. You've gone out of your way to help make the group better and taken into consideration the wants and needs of others within the group, something also that is a sign of a good leader. Abbi - the 1 reason I was thinking of the Swapping the instances is because, while we can field 2 full groups there are only Jaz and Myself for the MT/OT roles. This would keep us available for each instance and avoid the lockouts. May have to add a day in order to do this properly - Im still working out the kinks.

@Arrya -- TY :) I try. I am at work so I had to cut the last post short.

We also have to stick to the family rules, which are, One person, one toon, in one battle raid group. And you cant be in more than one battle raid group Doing an awsome Job Vandy, you and Jaz seem to work very well together. And as I said, I think swapping zones would be awsome.

Well Until we have 2 MT's and 2 OT's Were going to have to break the rules a bit. Say for instance, We run Monday and Wednesday DH group, and we form another Grp to run Sun and Thurs - I cant help the 2nd grp go through Dh because I am locked out - But, I can lead through GP - Until we have another tank or 2 geared up. This is the only way that I can see fitting all the people in who want to go and not create an exclusive singular raid group. So Leap frogging the Instances to get everyone in without lockouts, and having an ALT list in case of no-shows

I can probably MT/OT the other group if needed. I have 174 tough atm and can raise it up with a few runes. I will need to do some research on the fights beforehand though. Im sure there are plenty of walkthrough's out there.

i plan on concentrating on lvling Malleware to be a rogue tank since we have a surplus of healers atm. :) good training for GW2 anyhow, where i won't be able to *be* a healz :)

Posted a recurring event for GP this morning, Starting tonite for people that have yet been unable to get into the DH group. If the group is not filled I will be asking for folks from the DH group to fill in missing slots. I do not forsee this as a problem but I wanted to make sure the group would take wing. Cya tonight!

Hi Van :) I'll be there with Arrya np tonight, but I wanted to let you know that I've made a decision about my characters and Arrya is only going to be a fill in. I know that means that I won't be playing with you guys anymore, which kind of breaks my heart especially seeing I've been playing with some of you guys for months now /tears. But, as much fun as I've had, there still has been this upset in me because I'm not getting to play who I want because other healers are there now and though I'll gladly fill in or help with Arrya any time, she isn't my main or the one I want to play, Bellaa is. I'm sure you guys can understand that, but it's really been hard to watch others get to play who they want and me going on an alt because "we've got enough healers" .. I mean here, I am so used to it I did it to myself! But, I'm not doing that anymore. We have to make a choice and I'm staying with who I want to play, even if it means not hanging out with you guys so much anymore. It's good to get to know and play with new people anyways .. so that's what I'm going to do. I signed bellaa up for Gp for this coming week. But no worries about tonight, Arrya will be there and we'll all go in.. no afk's and slam it! :P

btw, I had arrya signed up for DH on Weds and it's not letting me cancel it. I don't know if it's something you have to do or what, but clicking cancel doesn't taker her off the list. So if you could remove her that would be great, thanks :)

re: Bella. yeah. i know what you mean re: healers. it is hard for me to have gotten Malle to raid-prepared w/ a spec i like a lot; finally getting the HPS i have wanted to know that "there are too many healers". rogue is fine. but malleware is a foreverlongwaysaway from being 50 - much less raiding. so you'll see me healing on Malle for t2s from time to time. but i will also be on Rainidawn, my guard healz. cuz healz is my thing in this game. [GW2 i'll have to figure something else out *grin.]

I am as far from telling anyone what toon to play as can be, however, as everyone knows who has tried to form a group, it takes a certain group makeup to succeed - unless you are uber geared. But we are not running 10 man content because we have uber gear. Trying to organize successfull groups, not just raid groups. As a side note, I have Vandyl, and Synistry. Love playing both and would love to be able to get Syn some raid gear but the opportunity has not been there yet. I dont hold an affinity to either so much that it will stop my advancement on one.

I will be here tonight, looking forward to doing this and learning the mechanics. I've seen and read the available info, but being there seems to be the best for me. I also want to thank Vandy for the couple of hours you spent with me after the first time we went to help with my spec and rotation. Your patience has paid off and given me confidence. Van,I'm sorry if you thought I meant this against you, I didn't AT ALL. You've done a great job and what I said a few posts above still stands. A few people from the start told me I would end up having to play arrya and when I saw all the healers I knew they were right.. (and for the reasons you said here) .. so "I" .. as in ME ... chose to play her. I just wanted to let you know I wasn't going to anymore and why. As Abi said, I couldn't play both and so I made a choice. Initially I had a plan to get to play bellaa more, which I thought would be fine, but that didn't work out and she totally got sidelined and I worked on arrya .. and well, I wasn't happy at all. So .... I made a choice. (Not a reflection on you or your leadership - so please don't take it that way - in all honesty you've done a great job) * except we were SUPPOSED to try that boss one last time last night :P I wish you guys the best.. and I'm sure you'll do great. This is a great group who work well together <3 <--- is what made me so sad about leaving it. **EDIT** Aissis .. I'll be on to get you your stuff around 2 or so server.. Sorry to intrude on your thread, Van, but seemed a good place to remind folks that there are actually 2 10-mans working this content on the D side (and many other Gaiscioch na Nuada individuals running with other guilds). Vandyl and I have already talked briefly about working the groups cooperatively to help geared players learn the DH and GP bosses. Lockouts are an issue, but only week to week. You guys run first on Wed, which means you hit lockout right off the bat. We run Fri/Sun. We will be hitting a fresh DH Friday having downed 4/4 last week. Until the institution of set Battlegroups we're not precluded from pooling raiders and working together as I understand it. Just something to consider. Either way, good luck tonight in DH and in GP when next you go there. I'm cheering for you.

glad that there is some raiding going on. i'm sure it's hard to be a RL. as a former raider in WoW, i understand that all raids need a mix to be successful. i find cleric great for healing, but not much use in raiding for the other roles. since i like healing - that's not a problem; except when there's too many healers. it's a pity because druids in WoW could be viable in all three roles. this is a game design thing - not a vandyl thing :) *hugs i don't have the time w/ grad school at the moment to grind my rogue to 50. so i'll just be popping in here and there and seeing if i can help. peace and biscotti

Rain maybe it's not something you enjoy, but clerics are great dps, tank, or support, most versatile class by far. And can be very viable raiding in any role.

Eeers - what DPS spec do you recommend? i have heard on the podcasts, etc, that cleric dps is awful in terms of raiding. i only have a duracell - which is fun for grinding but is pretty sad in terms of dps (although nice support hps). thanks in advance.

I play a healer as my main spec cleric, but I dps on off spec. I am keeping up with the other dps in the raid, so I think cleric dps is just as good, if you get the right specs and a good rotation and get used to it. I think if you are not used to a spec or role, you dont tend to do as well. So I have been working on my dps, I have been over 2k dps on peoples meters. SO that is good nuff for me lol and I have 300 focus which helps.

Unfortunately my cleric is mainly a tank. I think most of the ranged dps clerics base it off inquisiter but you would be much better off getting help from one of the clerics who do it.

Clearing the air on multiple raid groups. Ive reconsidered and cannot lead 2 10 man raid grps. Its to much to accomplish and still have a RL. The current 10 MAN DH group is the only grp that I will have an active part in - until we hit 20 man stuff and readjust time schedules.

It was an ambitious goal, and laudable as you were trying to get as many people into the content as possible. But realistically, you can't lead them all :). As you've pointed out elsewhere, there are other groups running, and still more uncommitted raiders able to run with them or form their own. There's more talent D side than most folks are aware of.

I agree with Swifty about this being ambitious, but it wasn't unrealistic at all, look at all that Foggy and others have done. It was Vandy's choice to stick with one. Personally I think if anyone could have put the two groups together and appointed a leader for the other, you could have Van. Again I tell ya, well anyone reading this LOL ... Van is a very good leader, he's fun and intelligent, he knows his stuff and what he doesn't know he finds out by either researching or listening to others and then making the final decision. He is considerate of those in the group and takes time out to help them and answer their questions. :D He's also very easy going which makes for a very un-stressful run and on top of all that, he's humble. As much right as he might have to be egotistical, elitist, gloat or brag about his accomplishments, or look down his nose at others who might not have his experience, gear .. whatever .. he NEVER does! I've been gaming for something like 13+ years and anymore THAT itself is such a rare find and also characteristic of someone with true leadership ability. Personally there isn't another group out there atm that I would even consider joining. I've thrown my hat in this one and though I've had to remove Array from the mix, if ever there is a spot for Bellaa to MT heal or Raid heal or dps I'm there. (Though certainly if the occasion arises and a bard is needed and it's permitted - I'd gladly go with Arrya. - on occasion lol) <--- though Abi said it's not.. I honestly don't know. KUDOS Fred! If you still struggle to find others within the guild that you deem acceptable for your group, as the previously leaders did, try doing what they did and fill out the group with people outside the guild. As I recall it was only the very last run in DH that you guys ever had a full guild run, so seeing that finding guildies to fill out your entire group was always an issue with your group, you might consider doing that again. Bellaa, I'm sure with all the interest in running 10-man content, and all the talk (on this thread and elsewhere) of running multiple raid groups in DH and GP, we shouldn't have to look outside of the Family just to fill out the raid. I volunteer to be in and help lead a second raid group. I am eager to get into raiding content and with no spots for myself in the current group, I am willing, and ready to commit to a second group. Considering we where able to get a Family pick up group for GSB. I don't see why a second group and reserve list isn't possible. Also for those new 50 and people who don't have the time to grind and get there gear, I am willing to help with random T1, T2 and any other quest or crafting related to preparing more of our family for the content. Provide me with some guidelines for what I/we should be doing and I will get started asap.

I agree Musick! And it was a lot of fun Saturday night and getting that many people together on a guild pug like that, there is no doubt another 10 man group is easily found with all of us. (Just too much work for Van to work all that out for another group as he has with the one I'm sure) I can help as needed, though can't "lead" as Van or Jaz have been doing aka instructing on the fights and what is needed etc.. but, I can help with organization or whatever if you need. Regardless though, I'd love to be in the group on Bellaa.

Swifty, I never did understand why that group always had others outside the guild in it when there were so many ready willing and able within the guild to fill up spots, so it's really good to hear with you leading it that's not going to be what you'll be doing. As far as what "acceptable" means, I wasn't in it so I have no clue why guildies weren't used to fill the empty spots. I assumed you knew because you were in the group and would know why it was being filled with those outside the guild with the exception of that last run. Regardless though, it is really good to hear that you're not opting for that road. :)

Wanted to bump this back up for a couple reasons. was hoping to get either here or on the calendar a roster listed and maybe some alternates. We currently are at a spot where we have the 10 and if 1 doesn't show then we don't run. and RL being what it is it is not uncommon for 1 or 2 out of 10 to not be able to make it. There are alot of very qualified people who either don't have a group yet or who have schedules that can't commit to a raid schedule but might be available on a night we need a fill in, and if we are going to have room from time to time i would like to give them the opportunity. So if we can keep it up here when we know we are going to be short i would guess we wouldn't have any trouble filling those slots.

I have made it clear repeatedly that I would run if needed, did so last night too, so you only needed one more, but people logged so fast saying nope sorry not running I didn't know what to think. There really wasn't much of an effort made to get people to fill the spots, asked once in guild, then calling it two minutes later? The whole we couldn't fill two spots was bogus. I honestly don't know what's gone on since I stopped playing Arrya, but it seems to have fallen apart because you've only run like once or twice since and apart from Eeers and Bashre no one from the group even plays on D-side much anymore. All I'm saying is please, IF you don't want to run it, don't, there is no problem with that, let someone else take it over. That is much preferable to the pretense of we "tried" (when you really didn't) and then logging and going on your G-siders like what happened last night.

Oh too, something I forgot to mention.. with the Tues/Thurs night family events switching to Mon/Weds might switching this group to Tues/Thurs work better?

Bellaa, as I told you last night, we waited 40 min past our scheduled time to allow for those who usually come along to log in. We asked in guild after 40 min if anyone wanted to come. We got zero responses, even sent tells to some ppl. We should not have to wait an hour past our time to run this 10 man. It was asked in raid what people wanted to do, the decison was made as a group not by one person. I am sorry you are so upset with us. It was not a bogus effort. We have people who HAVE to log by 7 pm server time and if we waited much longer there would not have been time to do much at all, it was already past 5pm server. We are not a raiding guild, we should not have to justify why or why we did not run this 10 man. We are casual players, and we as a group made a decision to not run it. Why is that so bad? I play on G side cause I am not expected to run anything, and I am able to do what I want when I want to, if I want to run a 5man I can, if not no one gives me grief. The D side has become demanding and quick to judge if you dont do something exactly right or right now.( some people, not all) Vandyl and Jaz put a 10 man together, they are trying to keep it going, but posts like this make it hard to even want to continue. We are being judged as bad because we decided not to run it. I just dont understand. What happened to being able to play how we want, when we want and with whom we want??? People were complaining they cant get into a raid. Last night was a good night to get in, no one took the offer. The Gaiscioch way is to be able to play the way you want. Not be judged because you didnt run something. Therefore, for me, that is why I have been playing G side, getting to know the people there and frankly they are very very nice and extremely helpful. I have been enjoying myself there a lot.

Bella, I was on vent when abbi told you several times that we had waited 40 min to fill the 2, not 1 2 spots and she also told you she had sent you a tell and you didnt respond. You then said you had been afk. I find it hard to understand why you persist in saying we didnt try to fill the spots. Confused here. After waiting 40 min vandy asked us as a group what we wanted to do. We did not want to wait around all night doing nada but anyone want in on a 10man? I am sorry you are upsset however we tried.

Abbi, yes that's your choice to wait 40 minutes for people to log on and then ask for help in guild, but to complain about it saying no one was willing IS bogus.. I said multiple times that I would run and you acted as IF I hadn't said a word. No, we are NOT a raiding guild but why do you even have it posted on the calendar as an event IF it's only for the individuals you chose to run and wait 40 mins for? IF you guys actually allowed others outside your group to join then it wouldn't be an issue, you could run it on a regular basis, but for the most part you have kept it incestuous and then turn around and complain that no one will do it. THAT is what I have an issue with. It IS you're group and you can do whatever you want with it, but you've made it so that no one even thinks they can join it (because you've never let anyone else join in the past and if one member was gone you cancelled it) .. and I'm sorry last night, you ask and wait not even 5 mins .. and you only asked ONCE and then sat there complaining about D-side .. 1st. Blades out not in! 2nd, I did not whine about anything. Get the story stright. I dont hate D side. and I dont hate this guild, have never said anything of the sort. All is good Bellaa. 1st vandy sent out tells during that 40 min wait period he said he had no repsonses. he also asked in guild bellaa several times. After the 40 min he asked us what we wanted to do. we said may as well go back to g side and get something accomplished. I know you would go on your rogue as you stated in vent but we needed two peeps not one and no one else wanted to go. Never once in vent did abi say d side sucked. She didnt even explain why she switcheted sides to you. Cya around
