Just to let you know do not pay the ransom I escaped.  Actually am playing the the GSCH social adventure group in WOW.  Thought I would never return to that game, however it is much more fun playing with family than a hard core guild.  So any of you who consider taking the leap once more be sure and check this one out.  We are playing Alliance, which for me is learning all the past content from level 60 up again, since back then was Horde.  Have learned 2 hard lessons, do not run near a Horde camp, even if you are human with diplomacy, it does not work, they are not forgiving.   Also after jumping of cliffs, dying, realized I no longer have glide, must call my Griphon.

LOL guys. Glad to see you found a fun place to return to cliff diving, Nona. :) I should pop in your Discord channel to say hi since a few of you know well, but haven't played with in a couple of years on anything. :)

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

For me, I got scared after logging in for my 7 freebie days and looking at the characters I have on Malfurion.  While I honestly think that I could probably abandon them, and call it even, (for the money I've spent on those characters versus the money I've been given back in free xpacs) but I realized that I haven't played in so long, that I would be starting from scratch... not just item-wise, but knowledge-wise.  That kind of scared me away.

I hear you Sekkerhund.  That's why WoW subscriptions continue to decline across the board.  The game will slowly fade away over time, but there's always renewed interest when an Expansion drops so we have the Social Adventure created for any Gaiscioch that is unguilded in WoW and would like to join us there.

Six months after the expansion we'll really see if the game is fading away.

There will never be a WoW killer.  It will die of natural causes :)

Well, Sekkerhund, you wouldn't be completely starting from scratch item-wise. Knowledge-wise, just about anyone in the guild would be willing to answer any questions. Heck, we even have a person completely new to the game, playing for the first time,  and is an elder here. There's at least one person who hasn't played since Wrath of the Lich King, and a few who haven't logged in in about a year+ (I'm one of those). Starting completely over on another server isn't as bad as it used to be, especially with Gaiscioch there to welcome you.

Not trying to convince you to play if you don't want to. But it isn't too bad starting over. Sometimes, I find it refreshing (though leaving my paladin behind makes me sad).

Well, one of the biggest reason that I've heard for people continuing to play WoW, even though they were bored and not really happy, was "well, a lot of my friends still play".  Blizzard really struck a chord with being able to instill that sense of community within their game, and not just hook players, but keep them on the line, regardless of the content they released.

They have such a large player-base, that they can lose millions to market-saturation and still remain on top.  Honestly, no other game has managed to capture that sense of community, that World of Warcraft was able to.  Mostly because no one knows how it happened and TBH, I don't think even Blizzard knows.  A happy coincidence for them, IMO.  LOL

I never played official WoW and I know that if I would I would become even more adicted to it than I am adicted to GW2 :B
