So I started a Witch Hunter

So I started a WH to because Fog mention we could use some. Not going to lie though, in T1 they suck hard it takes everything I have just to level him at this point. In the RVR lakes I can't kill anything and I die so fast it's retarded. I can see why no one wants to play one. Any suggestion for me to get the most out of my WH. He is only level 6. Just seem to die to fast and do next to no damage. I will say this what I have notice is unlike the rogue in WoW the Witch hunter which has the same type of mechanic seems to be pretty weak at least at this point. Any suggestions would be a great help.

once ya get to lvl 10 u will notice a BIG change when u get stealth. I loved it at r11, i could gank 3 Destro at once, take out the healer and work my way threw them, plenty of str, crit and wounds will help a ton also. Mind you i have only got my WH to r24, i rlly enjoy the WH in scens for the fact ya more of a lone ranger, take the back paths, don't run with the crowd and once the battle begins, stealth up behind and nuke those sorcs and healers! then run for ya life and stealth again. I found the class to be more of a kill one or 2 ppl then run for ya life, stealth heal up and sneak back in to burn some more. :) I'll just run solo selfishly burning the heritics for the Emperor! >:D Not sure if any of this helps but may just give you an idea on a good way to play and get used to the class :)

Before you get stealth there are 2 things you can do to help your survivability. 1. Defend your healers. Trust me, if you start killing things that are attacking them they will be greatful and keep you healed while you're doing it. Plus if they are attacking the healer you wont be getting hit by them. 2. You can wait until the majority of the battle has started, THEN move in there once destro already have their target. If you are in the front lines with the tanks going in "first wave" you are going to die fast and often. That stands true all the way through lvl 40. Also at level 8 you get "Get thee behind me" which is your AOE detaunt. Immediately bind that to a mouse key as you will use it all the time. It detaunts everyone within 30', so after you chose your target; start attacking, then when you start taking hits, detaunt and try to finish off your target. And remember even from the early stages, you are a positional player...stay behind your target as much as possible (circle strafe is your friend). This will do two things, it will help your torment do more damage, and it will keep you out of their frontal cone which means they wont be able to hit you as much. You generally want to avoid statue type/toe to toe battles. Especially early on.

for my build i just put all points in 'Judgment' and will keep doing so till i get 'Pistol Whip'. Not sure if i wanna spec for 'Burn Away Lies' or 'Exit Wound', but once i get PW i will start putting points into 'Inquisition' and then work out from there as i lvl what i want 'BAL' or 'EW' :)

Here is your cookie cutter build: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=9#9:544:0:0:15:8832:29:521:8137:8121:523::::631:8147:8148:630 It allows you all of the fancy defensive tricks for survivability, plus the most lethal finisher. True its positional, but BaL like our word of pain/boiling blood. This build will let you destroy most melee. And the shroud of magus will allow you to close the gap on the magic users without suffering damage. (only 7 seconds mind you but its still a huge help) This is my build: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=9#0:0:15:8704:9:640:29:521:8137:8121:523::::631:8147:8148:630 pretty devestating against healers. Because you can keep them some form of heal debuffed almost the entire fight, and between Abso and EW you have 2 ranged finishers for when they try to punt you away. PtF and your bullet proc (your 2 heal debuffs) do not stack, but you can time them so one of them is up most of the time. And Exit wounds is pretty amazing for when you are running in organized groups. There are other variations as well. But no witch hunter is really without either Exit Wounds or Burn Away Lies. Dragon gun is ok when you are leveling PvE because its the only non-moral AOE that we get. And if you have your AP stealing bullets on Dragon Gun could be pretty useful. But its not a favorite among the WH community. But really it comes down to what you want to kill. The melee killer is the cookie cutter build from above. Because if they dont have heals, and the fight lasts long enough for you to build M1, you will have 12 seconds of that fight they cant hit you (between Repel blasphamy and the M1 confusing movements). Plus you have the knock down to help apply the DoT Burn Away Lies. My build is very efficient against healers because I have 2 seperate 50% heal debuffs I can apply, plus 2 ranged finishers for when I get punted. Deciding what you want to specialize in will help you create a build you like...but you have to understand, the more specialized your build...the harder it will be to kill the other things. Like with my build me vs a melee could end 50/50, it really depends on who gets the crits. But me vs an unsupported (or even sometimes supported) healer, usually ends with a dead healer. So understanding that you are not going to be the end all killer of every class will help you enjoy playing a WH.

My WH is only level 11 but i am loving it so far, im sure i got lucky but i had 4 solo kills yesterday in an /sc. I play alot like others above have said let the mass of destro run by then uninvis on a healer or Sorc and start ripping them up. I havent really looked into Builds yet but i like the look of yours Mal, i may give it a go as i get higher levels, thanks. I am going to try and play my WH with the following mentality, dont expect heals, protect your healers if able, take as many of those evil rat !@#$@#$^ with me as possible before i give up the ghost :)

I've been using the same build as Malryan on my WH. (or will be once I hit 40, have exit wounds and working my way up to PW) Personally I like that build because it does take down healers faster and quite frankly that's what I've come to expect the WH job is to do. Let the slayers bash their heads against the choppas and marauders. A correctly placed bullet to the back of the head will silence any healer. Of course why did I go EW over PW? Well being only 37 now and with very very dismal gear that debuff is enough to really help me finish off rr50+. Plus if you're running in a group someone always seems to have it or by the time I get to the healer they've already been tagged by something to make them immune. Any way that's my two cents, but definetly pay attention to what Malryan said.

I as well started a WH and I am loving it. My dmg output may not be in the top 5 very often in SCs, and even my DBs aren't that high all the time. However, I feel my impact to the battle is more than substantial. What I've been doing is going in after Zealots, DoKs, and Shamans. Primarily just harassing and trying to keep their healing focused on themselves and not the tanks on the frontline. I would say our 6man T2 group we had yesterday was doing a pretty damned fine job of it. I <3 WH.

After preparing Delianath for BfB I spent some quality time with Magdeleine (my old WH I hasn't been playing for a long time). It really works fine to raise some hell on back ranks of enemy. If you're not bothered of dying fast, and many times, you can be real useful to the battle. She's still rank 5, but i confess she will be my backup toon in case Delianath ranks out of T1 during BfB.

Well my 1st toon on WAR is a WH and what i notice so far is that they get better as they get to the top of the tier. Your impact in battles gonna grow higher as u reach the top lvls of your tier since it's then when u get the most usefull skills. Same thing applies to scenarios where u ll get to see more top 1-3 dps scores as u grow up in rank and rr (solely for the str boosting rr skills). So dont get frustrated if that BW performs better than u. After all WH are the ones with the coolest Hats ;-)

Yeah, I love my Viksyn. It is unlike any other toon I've played. At first I was having a lot of difficulty because I am so used to tanking and being that critical front-line meat shield - no chance to really watch the action because I was usually at ground zero, especially during keep takes and defenses, and there was no question as to what my role was. Its different for a WH. I had to figure out a way to be helpful, and I learned I would have to die over and over again to do what I could to help - and just accept it. Taking out the siege weapons one by one(and dieing), sneaking to the back lines to distract the healers(and dieing), and ganking the enemy as they trickle in(and if I'm lucky, maybe not dieing, lol) is what I've found to be the best use of her talents during keep operations Scouting for your party is also very helpful. Sometimes I will run with a band, though not IN the band and just help the leader keep tabs on destro movements. But the really nice thing about being a WH is that you don't need a warband running around to have fun in the lakes. With stealth, you own the lakes, and can move about as you wish alone, and without fear as long as you are alert. Just look for destro, wherever they may be crawling about,(Having SoR is critical for this of course) sit back, wait, and strike any that you find who can't keep up with the herd. It's quite satisfying ;) Its not for everyone of course, a little patience is required, but it is another fun aspect of this broad game to discover and enjoy. Also, playing a WH does a great deal for helping you understand the battlefield, geography of the lakes, weak points, enemy movements, and ambush areas. They know the caves, rivers, houses, back routes, tactically placed bushes and tree cover. As the ranger knows his forest like the back of his hand, a WH knows the lake. I'm looking forward to seeing what else she can accomplish (and what trouble she can get into!) as she levels up. :D

It seems Witch Hunters have a lot of possibilities. My fave classes are still SW and SM (i'm in love for SM's. They are so much fun to play!), but I will experiment with Magdeleine (my WH) and maybe even use it for T1 BfB in the future (as Delianath will sure rank up after this first event).

SO my Witch hunter is lvl 10 man what a difference that makes. I think my WH is going to become my main. I love the play style. It so awesome to watch healers panic when you hit them with our opener and start attacking them. HAHA so funny doing scs last night and snuck up on a healer hit him with my opener funniest thing ever. He didn't stop to heal himself he ran right into the Destro pack. They were so busy dpsing he was dead before they realized what was going on. Funniest thing ever. =oD Clothies just panic when you pop out. That is why I like WHs. Or this one was so awesome. Choppa is all by himself I sneak up on him and burn armour I watch as he killed himeself trying to kill me. ROFL!! I seriously love this class.

Sounds to me like we've got the makings of a WH hunter-killer team. I propose that we all focus on levelling our WH's up, so that come the first night of T3 BoTB we have a 6 man ganking crew. Hell, if we got 12 that would be even cooler. :)

Witch hunter's are like little mini batmans we pop in and reach for our utility belt and our enemies pause wondering what trick we'll be using, My build is an inquisition/judgement build like Malryan slightly different though http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=9#0:0:13:8736:10:640:29:521:8137:8136:8125:14171:14169:15123:631:8147:8148:630 My other build is this: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=9#13:8736:0:0:10:640:29:521:8137:523:8125:14171:14169:15123:631:8147:8148:630 Since I'm a healer kill I love pop Shroud of Magnus and watching vindication pop adding 35% more damage utterly popping them like balloons, and when I'm lucky chopping through tanks like my name was Ginsu.

You can't treat everything like it's a Life or Death situation or you'll die a lot of times (Write that down).

I started Mause, my WH, at 4:45 yesterday when I got bored with my BW while waiting for the event to kick off - I had a blast in B4B last night. made it to lvl 6 / rr6!. Not sure if I'll work on her more now - but it's very tempting. It was definately entertaining - once I can sneak around this will get even better! I forgot how much I loved my undead rogue.... *tear
