Scheduling Events [Informal Poll]

Which location is the best location for posting Events for Participation and/or Feedback?

A. In-Game Guild Calendar?
-Located in-game Guild>Calendar.
-Events are added with standard GUI interface.
-Attendance is listed as characters can select specific events and flag for their intention to attend.

B. Event Calendar on the Forums?
-Located on the Frontpage of the Guild Website [must be logged in] under Upcoming Events.
-Simple GUI interface for adding new events

C. In the Guild Forums?
-where you are right now. Most visited location on the website.[based on personal experience as bookmark goes here and not the mainpage]

Personal responses: A. In-Game Guild Calendar? Personally this seems unused at the moment or disregarded though there is much possibility. 'Most' typical RvR postings are listed and even a raid or two but it seems noone signs up to them. B. Event Calendar on the Forums? It took me a while to find this as I used to not even go to the main page as my bookmark was directed towards the Tavern so I was at a loss when someone said they saw a posting on the calendar and meant the forum calendar and not the in-game beast. C. In the Guild Forums? This seems to elicit a moderate response or total ignore mode depending on the whims of the winds. Overall I would hope that -=A. In-Game Calendar=- trumps all and encourages persons to use the in-game guild system more. With the latest improvements to it you can join any guild member in any party [besides locked parties] regardless of who is leading. See where the troupe is and see what levels are being active at that time.

Keep in mind option A. only allows 10 entries, And if your in the Gaiscioch you cant see any Alliance events. If your in na Anu you'll be able to see all the events. Mythic still has not fixed this bug though i have reported it continuously in 3 patches so far. B. They are hidden to avoid destro from using it to snuff our raids. This should be the primary guild calander especially being i've added the ability for alliance members to register and add events. C. The forums arn't good because the posts fall to the bottom too quickly. And by the time they get around you'll have to scroll down to see them. Theres a Option D in the works. Im putting together a RSS feed that will allow alliance sites and friends of the family to stream the Event calendar directly to their sites, pda's, or other RSS reading device. Ill let you know the URL when its available.

Now option D would be nice, supplemented by a short term A. I had forgotten to mention the 10 post limit. That is avoided if the event is only posted 3-5 days out however.

I also don't like the forums for scheduling events since there are far too few that come here. It's a shame - it's a real sweet site. I look at our event calendar in-game all the time -and you are right not many sign up on it, but I think quite a few actually refer to it. I don't regularly sign up for events but attend quite a few, but r/l issues -mainly baby sitting grand kids - are spur of the moment so I won'tcommit to an event unless I am absolutely positive - 100% - I can make it.

In my opinion this kind of discussion can only be decided by the leader or a democratic vote. There is no right answer. I prefer Option B, because I only log in to WAR to play, not to see when I'm going to play. Flipside, I use the web all day every day and it's convenient. Other people prefer A or C, all for legitimate reasons although there are bugs in A and technical issues with C. Option D is great because it is really Option B+, fulfilling B and pleasing some others with "D".
