Just curious

Hello everyone,

I know that I've probably been forgotten about or never even known by many of you, since I was only here shortly and quite a few months ago, but my time in the family in Aion was really good. I enjoyed the time spent playing with people from the family, however short lived the Aion venture was.

Because of that, I started thinking about the upcoming release of FFXIV. I personally loved FFXI and so this new one is a mandatory purchase for me. My question is, does anyone here plan on getting into it? Would it be possible for a branch of the family to grow into FFXIV? I understand that this is not likely, what with everyone's time invested into Warhammer and the upcoming Guild Wars 2, but neither of those two games hold much interest for me. Yet, I would love to play with people who share common interests as far as MMOs are concerned so I hope that some from the family might join me in FFXIV.

Have you checked out Rift: Planes of Telara? I have me Don and Yulishka (from aion) signed up for beta on that one. Don't know anyone who was planning on joining FFXIV as of yet. I plan on being with Warhammer until it kills itself but we all know how the economy is as well as the mmo industry. I was thinking of trying out FFXIV however every article i read, every review i see from those oversees playing it tells me that it's going to have a very rough start. Wherever I end up will have to be a RvR style game.

A member of the family, Cecil/Threy is in the closed beta for FFXIV right now. He's saying there's currently alot of issues with the servers, and not much is open for them to playtest yet, but I think it's only been in closed beta for a couple weeks now. From what I've seen of it, it's going to be quite a bit different from FFXI, allowing you to do alot more and maybe being a little faster paced. I'm going to try to get a look at it the next time they open a testing window and see what I think about it. It's got potential, but there doesn't seem to be any real RvR element to it, which will rule it out as a main game for the family.

No, I haven't looked at Rift: Planes of Telara, but I will now. Nonetheless, I will still be going into FFXIV. I'm just too much of a FF addict, plus I have several IRL friends that will be joining me. I was just hoping that some people from the Gaiscioch family might join in since I enjoyed time spent here from Aion.

Zed, I remember you. It was a pleasure to play along side you in the Aion branch. Hopefully we can journey together again somewhere.
