Been working on a new events calendar check it out:
Events Calendar
When creating an event Small Title is what will show up on the Calendar. It is limited to 10 Characters. Use 8 or less preferably. I'll be posting a list of acceptable small titles soon.

Ok Calendar is now on crack. Enjoy :). Now you can Quick Add events from the form. I've set up pre-defined templates to help speed the process up. To fine tune it you will need to use the Events Manager under "Earn Honor Points" on the Left Nav. Enjoy!
