So since my return I have been mostly playing around in t1 and some t2 trying to get a feel for the game again. Seeing as how I barely was in t4 when I quit, I have no idea what to do to get to 40.

Welcome back :) The answer to your guestion largely depends on what your renown rank is... If your level and rank are fairly close, I would get on the quest train... At your level, head to Eleryon, and grab a bunch of quests, and charge through them. Good exp and equipment rewards that way. You will pass through Dragonwake and Caledor as you move up in level... That will also keep you close to the oRvR action. By watching the region 1 chat, you can take breaks and run in to assist on a BO or Keep. You can also que up Scenarios while you quest :) If your level is way ahead of your rank, I would spend more time in Warbands doing oRvR. However, most folk find it rude to que-up for SCs if you are in a Warband, so you will need to decide whether to follow (while solo) or join one. Or, lots of folk head out to Land of the Dead for experience grinding. That's supposed to be the fastest way to get exp if the race to get to 40 is your goal. I've played around a little bit in LotD, but haven't focussed on trying to level out there. But really, the only "race" you should be running is to get to level 36. At that point you can relax, and do whatever you want. That is because once you hit 36, your Renown isn't capped by your level (I was rr43 when I finally dinged 40 with my Shadow Warrior). Heh... I'm actually a notoriously slow leveler, so... I'm probably the last person that should give advice on this topic ;) Just have fun!
I level slowly too so maybe that is the best advice :) and right now I have no idea what my RR is.
