I realize my computer is ancient but I can usually play most areas without much fuss but for some reason I can not play in Troll Country. I have the lowest setting and yet it’s torture. Any one else have this issue? I can only imagine what the game experience would be like if I had a machine that could actually process the game.

I'm sorry you had so many problems. Funny thing is I had similar problems the other day and I have half way decent internet and a robust computer. I restarted my computer and it returned to normal. No idea what had happened. Just be glad you weren't there for the "Defend Stonetroll Keep WITH YOUR LIFE" speach. It started at 5:30pm PST and I had to leave at 6:00pm for the Tuatha event in T4. Apparently it lasted for another hour with Destro's T2 wb's growing to 3 or 4 warbands and our starting out at 2 wb's and building to 3 or 4 as well. It was quite the slugfest when I was there and I heard it got even crazier at the end. Apparently Order won! :) If Mandred's ate your computer, STK would have been worse. What speed of internet do you have/RAM/Graphics card?
Its not just you when me and keggan played in troll country we lagged bad. That was the only zone, well the T2 empire, but when we went to dwarf or elf it was fine. So it might be just that area for you.
Troll Country/Ostland always seem to be weird. Though I've never had a problem in Mandred's I know that STK is cursed! No matter what, no matter how many people are in that keep, my framerate always suffers.
I've always had problems with Troll Country :P I blame it on those empire trees... (with no evidence to back that up of course) I will often stop moving, mouse down and stare at my feet until the framerate comes back up. Then look back up, and slowly spin around one time - it seems to reset the environment or something. It's probably just Voodoo... but it helps me :)
When you start getting a bunch of people crossing the divide from Ostland and Troll country it seems to lag out the whole zone. The invisble line seems to always make my frame freeze for a split sec as the other "zone" loads in. It was always really bad when the game first came out and you had 2-5 WBs crossing back and forth along that divide. I'm not saying that is the exact cause but it has been in the past. Also fighting on the boarder between Ost and TC is a laggin nightmare so if theres lots of skirmish on that line I can see that hurting preformance. Also in genral the game as a whole seems to be getting laggier to me and lots of people no matter what tier or zone. We have been getting alot of rerolls and server pop seems to be going up...
