Coming Clean: PvE scares the hell out of me!

Yeah so I love RvR but unfortunately all the good gear is sourced via PvE and in order to stay functional
in the battlefield I need to get some Tyrant or Dark promise, but I got to be honest those things scare the hell
out of me. When I fight in RvR it's all gravy kill that healer get A-holes of our healers and other acts of random carnage
I get some Rp's and I call it a day. When Lost Vale or Land of the Dead show up they freak me out one of the reasons this
happens is everyones done it before and I've not done any of them all the way through so I'm afraid I'll screw beans
waste an hour or two of a groups time. Does anyone else feel weary of these things or am I just a super handsome non PvE Chud?

Doing the high lvl dungeons for gear can be intimidating for anyone on their first try. I was scared to death of the Crypts/Tunnel;s when I first started going in them but over time once I learned what to do I was ok with it. Same goes for ToVL and LV, as you progress and figure out the mechanics, you'll be fine.

another frustrateing part about getting your gear in places like the crypts. tunnels, VL or LV is that its not as simple as going in kill the mob and walking away with your gear. in those places you have to go back over and over and over again till the peace your after drops.. not to mention the fact that these places also have lock out timers that range any where from 3 days to 5 days depending on the dungon.

Yeah, LV and ToVL are daunting at first. In the case of folks asking for more in region to do these dungeons, they are not expecting a perfect run and will be understanding of hickups. Just let the group know that you have never done them; the vast majority of the players on Badlands are surprisingly understanding and helpful. In the cases where they only want experienced people in their group they will let you know (one way or another, often with a polite "we found someone already.") Vent is a huge plus when you are learning these, it makes it much easier for people to give out the details of each encounter, rather than trying to type it all in. If you have vent you should tag that in (like; "I've never done VL before, but I'm warded for it and I have vent.) @Falonarion: Have you tried stance dancing for PvE? Start at long range, hit them with take down, broadhead arrow, and as many eagle eyes as you can before they are in melee, then switch into Assault stance and finish them off with your sword attacks. This doesn't man you have to spec for melee either, your abilities in Assault should be nearly as effective as your Scout abilities - IF you switch stances. I have actually run T1 & T2 entirely in assault stance, including RvR, even though I am a Scout SW - the relatively minor loss of dps on my scout abilities like eagle eye was well made up for by the increased armor. (Ruthlos-eth, RR79, actually plays 100% in assault stance even though he's Skirmish/Scout spec'ed.) Yeah I guess I just got to set a time to do one of the instances with a friendly group, I'm guessing I'll have more time when I trick my broad into playing this game.

My first run Tomb of the Vulture Lord (ToVL) was only this past Wednesday. I felt the same way, but being in Vent with Block and the rest of the group helped immensely. They were patient and explained what needed to be done for each step. A very pleasant experience AND I picked up some nice boots too! :)

Falnarion, lets see if one of my Skirmisher's can help you out. I'm a Scout myself (okay well full melee atm, but I prefer Scout/Assault) so I'm kinda biased in that direction on stats and what not. As a DPS you have a much easier learning curve save for a few boss encounters here and there, the majority of the time you will in fact be bored to death spamming the same 1-4 abilites over an over an over unitl Boss X dies. But as everyone has said Vent is a plus and honestly try and go with your guildies or people you RvR with regualrly. Instances can be huge time sinks and if you are in vent with people that you can't joke around and be sociable with you are gonna want to hurt someone. It may sound crazy but I find VL a lot easier to get into a going than LV, theres a lot less trash so getting to what you are after is a lot faster. But if you are going to LV for whatever reason make SURE you have the quest "Pure of Heart" from the Elf King in Altdorf, and inform who ever you are with that you are on the quest line. This quest line can be one of the major pitfalls for LV with a portion of it sometimes bugging out and if you jsut get caught up in the moment and forget to talk with the Everqueen before killing the next mini boss. If people are trying to run right wing or middle wing and you have not gotten the quest chain completed it is just another time sink to bug it out so you can get to where you need to get. Its only happened to us one or two times but when people want to go but have not bothered to do what they need to to be there it's very frustrating. That's just a pet peeve of mine I hate the attitude of "well we can just bug it out". With your RvR gear and RR you will be breezing through most of the PvE encounters in no time. Just have a go! Disclaimer: I HATE YOU BOSS 7!! You all know what I'm talking about.

I feel the same way toward pve. Its about time I started working on some tyrant gear but I dont want to be the dummy that screws up the instance for everyone.

Ooo! I just remembered that Sfom of was setting up groups for these. He was doing this to help gear up Order and remain competitive with Destro and he was trying to set them up by experience. You might drop him a tell and see if he has room in one of his groups.
