LvL grinding and LOTD

So, as we all have been told grinding in LOTD is the best way to level effciently after you make the leap from T3 into T4; however, with the changes of the most recent patch I am not so sure it's really the case anymore. Pre patch at a bolster to level 36 with rested bouns one would net 5k plus per mob kill. At the very early levels 30-31 this would equal to 1-2% of a level per kill. With the current bolster to 40 with rested I am getting 1700 plus per kill. It takes 2 kills per % point with rested and as many as 4 or 5 without rested bonus for the same gain. I decided to go back and just quest in Reikland to see how it went and with the quests my leveling went much faster.

Now this is of course just me solo grinding in both cases. And I did not use a a banner since not everyone has access to them. The pros of LOTD grinding in the case of loot is still superior to questing and while you are in a friendly grind group that can kill tons of mobs in less time LOTD still is more effcient. But if you really don't care about the drops and really want to get the levels old school questing in the regular zones may in fact be a faster route for level gain.

I have alts but it is rare that I actually get them to 40 so I have not done this in some time. That being said, people that have been leveling more and more often to 40 what has your experience in this area been like with the changes to bolster in LOTD?

I can somewhat confirm what you're seeing. Before patch my 26 WP rested was getting ~4k xp per lvl 40 LotD mob kill. Now it's only around 2k if that much.

I noticed the same trend as well on my Rune Priest. Except that regular questing was MUCH slower solo on the healer (didn't invest time/resources in getting dps gear, so kills are slow) than in a group in LotD. So for classes that can efficiently quest, I think you may be on to something, Beetles.

Well I have been plugging away and am getting about a level in a days worth of questing in the regular zones. But I must say it is VERY boring. The PVE zones are pretty much empty and its a grind by any other name. I am a PvP person myself so it's probably not as bad as all that, but still. SCs with a solid guild or alliance group is by far and away the most effcient and fun way to level in T4. In a premade (minus me at 33-34 of course) I was getting around 7-8k XP on average for a win. And in some cases in really good SCs where destro and Order went back and forth it got closer to the 10K mark! This also does not feel like a grind to me personally so it just seemed to fly by. SO... SC premade>questing=LOTD atleast for classes that can solo pretty well. LOTD is still best for group grinding and the loot tables are of course better by far but for pure level gain over time old school questing around SCs seems to be a more effcient route. Only 4 more levels to go before I can use my free level and then its gear gain and Slaya time!
