Greetings,
I have been thinking more and more about ways we can make more of a positive impact in our server and the moral of our troops. In an effort to help spread our name as the Dominant Family in open RvR I believe we need to start branching off our warbands. Instead of having just 1 warband of us Gaiscioch / Treubh Alliance, we should look to form multiple warbands.

On raid nights, I would like to start by forming a pair of warbands, Broadcasting to the alliance first who to join for oRvR, then blanketing the broad chat channels saying "If you would like to join the Gaiscioch and Treubh alliance in oRvR tonight please /join [Me] or [You]." or something Similar. As the night progresses and the 2 warbands fill up I would like to break off onto a 3rd. Thus forming the Gaiscioch Trinity. 3 warbands all under our control, lead by Gaiscioch. People flock to organized groups, they love them, and they support them. If we go out there and show that the Gaiscioch are leading 3 warbands of forces to siege a keep more will join us.

As we showed last night Success brings troops to battle while defeat breaks the forces moral and troops leave. I believe it is imperative that no matter what happens if we are defeated once we should back off and go take something we can win. Purely to rebuild moral. 2 defeats in a row typically reduces the force to 50%. While a victory typically adds another 10 to 20%.

What I would like is to have some of you rise to the occasion, Let me know if any of you are up to being a warband leader. I posted a post before this regarding: Warband Strategies: Optimal Grouping. This guide will give you a blueprint for how to organize your warbands. All you will have to do is relay the orders I or the other raid leaders give. If you get a "Can't Do" or Scenerio jumper in the group just boot them. We will get more to replace them. So if you are interested in becoming one of the Gaiscioch Trinity please let me know.

I would like to participate. As a matter a fact every time I get on I usually end up taking the lead by nomination as my fame has grown quite a bit in the T3 scene. I think this would be a great opportunity to have those experience what it is like to have organized combat.

Do you have a tier 2 character as well anymore? It would be nice to have you around for T2 as well as T3.

First trial run last night seemed pretty effective. We managed to take 9 Castles some of which were defended with Daghdre, Spumante, and Bulzeye running 3 warbands. We also recruited about 5 people in the process. I believe this will be a very effective tactic. Now we can start working on assault formations / tactics. I defiantly think the storing a warband in the bottom floor preventing resupply helped a lot. How did you guys feel with the Gaiscioch Trinity? Foghladha

Unfortunately it's been some late nights at work this week (I'm an acountant and it's month-end so this will happen every month!) so I missed the RVR run here. As I stated in another post I would like to offer up a few suggestions that worked really well as far as RVR WB organization from when I played destro on Ostermark with Shadow Company. Granted, they are a military style guild through and through and the stragies refelct that. One thing Scoop did a great job of though is defining an overall core structure for us to follow no matter who was leading and I think the concepts might blend well with us here :) I am completely ripping off his post on WB structure just as a suggestion for us to mold into our own version: When we form our Trinity it would be important that these ranks are assigned at the beginning, and then announced as people join the WB. It will take some time for outsiders to understand what we are talking about, but over time the importance is that first, WE KNOW what we are talking about and second, THEY SEE THERE IS A PLAN AND STRUCTURE. So every WB should have the following structure: 1 - WB "Field Marshal": The "Field Marshal" is the leader of ALL WB's actively coordinating together on the battlefield. 2 - WB XO: WB 2nd in command; leads & passes orders to their respective WB and navigates the troops round the battlefield. WB XO also reinforces Commands orders and helps answers questions/meets/greets WB members. 2 - WB Scouts: WB Scout (s) helps WB Field Marshal or WB XO gather intel via recon missions/patrol duty. The FM or XO directs Scouts to varioius part of the battlefield at their discretion. WB Scout also supports the WB XO when XO has the Con.

I wouldn't mind eunning the 2nd or 3rd WB when I am on. I will soon have a toon in all tiers and doubt that there will come a time I won't. It worked real well Thursday night - and having all the WB's under one general ensured that we fought together - even when we split up - it was very nice.

I defiantly like what we have going. It's sending an awesome message to the people who play along side us. And slowly but surely we train people to work together, follow a plan, and execute. That is by far the biggest challenge in the oRvR world. Ideally everyone would do as told but thats rarely the case and makes a lot of the Raid leaders nervous. Thanks for coming out with us tonight. It was a ton of fun.

Running a warband is very taxing... you do a great job keeping focused Ben. I know it's got to be hard with some of us singing and pole dancing and what not. Most people would get distracted. And I would just like to point out for the record that Minonka is correct. It really IS hard to grab your bag with a naked dwarf jumping on your chest!

What we have going on is better then I had even seen previously. You guys are calm, focused and organized. My salute to the leadership :) I though it was going to take a really long time to find a quality guild I could call home, but it seems my instincts served me well when i hooked up with the warband and was told I could join if I wanted. Thank you Foghladha :) I'll help in any way I can and try to be a good healer!

Thanks for the kind words guys :). Repetition makes everything run smoother. :), It also helps to have the best listeners the game has to offer. Got kinda scary last night at cascades when i tried the "Bum Rush" idea, think that proved my point about 3 warbands CAN get rolled without defenders. We just gotta stick to what I've always done. If it ain't broke don't fix it. My way may take a while to explain but It works 100% of the time when executed as planned. Spite and Cascades are the hardest keeps to take in first 3 tiers. No other keep lords have an aoe dot. From here on out im not going to change my plans for anyone. We do it the way we've done it so many times in the past. That one almost defeat cost us the better part of a warband. We have to keep the moral high if we want to sustain the trinity, and for that we need to show a firm hand and a solid plan. Lead troops to victory and they will follow you to the ends of the earth. I love the fact that I can count on all of you to back me up when im in those moments when people challenge the plan. It's nice to not be off on an island. I know i have the support of at least half of the group ;). Last nights 12 keep raid brought us 6 new members, 2 new guilds for the alliance (Both of which are active in T4), and helped us gain more respect on the server. Within the next month I hope that when I make the announcement that the Gaiscioch Trinity is roaming that we gain 4th and 5th warbands looking to follow us. By the time we decide to start raiding T4 i want all those people the experienced what were about to join us in arms. Some may not realize what im doing but if you've played on this server since launch 90% of you have been in one of my raids. I have trained people from T2 on up to know how we run things and that where we go there is victory. By the time we show our face in T4 followers will come to our sides remembering their tier 2 and 3 raid days. This is the vision I have for the Gaiscioch. And you guys are doing a great job upholding our reputation. Keep it up. Whurja, lets work you into the mix of trinity leaders.

Tier 4 is very insane Ben. A lot of it is very hectic and there really needs to be some sort of order of things. i feel that the more we train with these types of strategies the easier it will be for us to take these keeps in tier 4. The ongoing problem we have in tier 4 is the fact that usually there are about 60 people guarding a keep when it gets fortified. People will not retreat and move tot he next target, instead they sit there and fight. Tier 4 is really a different world compared to the other tiers. But that does not mean we can do what we do there also. Going to take a lot of time to instill strategy on some of these zones. Especially Praag where its a big giant city fight, a lot of flanking we can do there. you will know what I mean when you get to tier 4.

I'll be glad to help - me and any of my alts....I can't wait for more of us to make it to T4 - I really do like the looks of it. I may have to make another engineer to bring up since I really like them and understand them the best (I think) but I also like the BW and the WL. I do have a WP set up to help all the slayers that will be coming out once that goes in. My only problem is Tue and Thurs are also my LOTR nights (unless we cancel due to conflict) and I made a commitment to them a long time ago. But I do play a lot so we might be able to get some earlier WB's going on - like 5 or 6 EST for the folks back there. In T4 I think the strategy may end up for longer sieges and it will be a victory of attrition - more siege weapons - bigger groups guarding entrances so that no one gets in - pet classes working together to target individuals (6 white Lions all attacking 1 healer - 6 eng. with turrets shooting one healer) it will take more coordination and less zerging - more of a battle - more of a war!

So Ben... I was thinking a lot into the strategy of the Gaiscioch trinity. I think right before the event starts we should assign groups. What I mean islike you would be A, someone would be B, and another C. Basically is goes like this. Group A - Door Duty and Lord's room Group B - Postern duty(Outside). Since this group is outside when C comes into the keep, they will always be before B so they secure the ground floor and B will go in the Lord's room with A. Group C - Door and watching the back. After the door is down. They head inside and watch posterns from the inside while group B transitions into position, and then B would take over or B and C can switch. So if B is outside postern and C transitions to the inside, that means B then watches the back and secures the bottom floor. Group D - I usually this is mainly overflow when we are very full. If there is a D we should have them on the bottom floor and have the full 3 WBs go in. On a side note when the keep is defended. Group A should be the lord room group. Group B heading upstairs and group C circling the second floor. If we make assignments and have plans to which group we are in we could have the same system. I don't really know if this will work, but its a thought in organization in the event before hand,so that each WB leader already knows what to tell his/her troops. This being said I believe if we had this type of system, we could get the jump faster and be able to give orders in a more timely manner. Let me know what you think Ben.

This is a good idea, the only hangup i foresee is when we have to reexplain it every time as there will always be someone new. I would need my secondaries to macro their orders so they can reprint them in /war before each siege. BTW do we have any war mod programmers in the family? Have an idea of how to make things easier just haven't spend the time with the modding language to know if its possible.

This is what I was thinking, if we can get set warbands it would be easy to make macros for each leader. I think we would generate a lot more attention if we did it that way because people would get to see how organized we really are. Also if we pull these off we will get a lot of server fame.

True, My biggest objective with these raids is to prepare people for organized assaults in tier 4. When the Gaiscioch finally go tier 4 I want to be the most in demand raid group. We started getting a waiting list in tier 2 when we rolled, hence the formation of the trinity. In tier 4 im suspecting we will be 5 - 7 warbands instead of just 3. One of the drawbacks i see with this is that the people tanking the lord will typically get the loot rolls or will be thought of as getting the loot rolls. Rotating the groups around responsibilities helps people learn the different tactics. Perhaps before each keep we declare the A, B, C.

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking. Rotating the roles would be great. But for now, A, B, and C should be sufficient enough. So in the meantime all we need to do is come up with different group macros. before the event tomorrow I would like to talk to you a bit so we can go over this. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes or so. This way we can get whoever else is going to lead the bands their macros set up as well.

I wish I understood how the contribution system worked.... You have a point on tanking the Keep Lord, but I am almost positive I get better contribution from killing defending players over banging my head on the Lord. I am a strange BW from what I've been told since I love guarding the posterns - but when I have defenders that I can kill running in - I always score high on contribution. Last night playing my WH (Rayvyn - whom I think I finally understand) I killed one defender - the only one there and scored 1st on conttribution - never laid a blade on the Lord - never even made it up the stairs - killed the poor destro as they were running for their lives. I was first in contribution - and got a great roll and ended up first - a little lvl 20 in T3 raid. I know they are changing how it works - but does anyone understand it now - or how it's suppose to work - I actually love the Postern Guard Duty - it seems more exciting and I never seem to lack in the contribution.

It's fairly random as I have been told. To prove this,I remember running in and the lord just died and I got 1st somehow. Another time I took down a T2 keep with 8 people. I know a did a chunk of damage on the lord 3 people died, and we won, but the 3 dead people got 1st 2nd and 3rd and they died before the lord was pulled. So I'd have to go with random.

I've gotten first just running into the keep lord's room at the end without hitting any guards or the lord himself. I think right now its totally busted. I've gotten first without actually doing anything. Then when i fight my arse / heal my arse off i get 42nd. No idea.
