Hey guys, I recently tested out some of the Open Source / Free alternatives to FRAPS. Just when i was about to give up and decide nothing compares to FRAPS, I learned how to use XFIRE for video recording. It actually does an amazing job. The best part was I had no noticeable slowdown. I may have dropped 1 FPS. Here is a sample video I made. My Sys specs are
GeForce 8500 GT 1GB, WinXP, AMD Athlon64 x2 Dual Core 5400+, 4GB DDR2 Ram

Its been a while since i've recorded videos but i'd like to get back into it as soon as my new system arrives. Are the files recorded in .avi format like the old Fraps used to save as?
xfire records in AVI, then converts to mp4.
I think I will give this a try. Bit worried about my 2 GB of RAM though
