So, here's the thing. DR has advised us, the newer level 70's, to prepare for things like TD by doing some expert runs for gear and such. Yesterday I used LFG, stayed in the q for about a half hour or so; then took the summon. I'm in a five man pug group and at first, I had no idea where I was or more importantly, what to do. How hard could it be? Just do what everyone else does. This plan does not work. I am going to share the result, but not the whole story. I received, a great chest piece and some other loot and tokens; and credit for the last boss, Ahnket, Temple of; or possibly Comet of; and I did it all while dead, never even finishing the first encounter. The other four breezed through in 30 minutes.

Here is the advice part. Read everything you can about what you are signing up for. Surprises in there are not fun, not knowing what is going on or why it is going on, is not fun. Fog is not there in your ear telling you what to do, where to stand, etc.  I think that we should form a plan and ask someone in the guild to take us into these events, so we can learn. Knowledge is a good thing; it does lead to far less embarrassment.  Learning in a pug group with four people who have probably been in the instance many times, will not be a learning experience. In my opinion.

DR's advice was spot on. I did get a great chest piece.

Max:

Anytime you que up with a pick up group a.k.a PUG the consensus of the Rift community is that it is assumed that you are a god. You are max geared can do 1.21 giga DPS and can one shot bosses while AFK. The reality of the situation is no one cares or has the patience to teach unless your in a guild group. Once in a while you will encounter a good person who will help you out. Though 8 times out of 10 the trolls will eat you alive. My advice is to seek out others in guild who also need to do dungeons. Most of us need 100 dungeons cleared for our weapon quest. If no one is availabe check out our sister guilds in the Tuatha channel. Last resort cross events ask for a progression group willing to teach you the ropes only attempt as a last resort. You will most likely recieve more trolling than help. Have you been assigned a mentor yet? If so they may have other ideas to help out. It can be fustrating to be the new guy but we all start out at level 1. Many people forget that part sadly. Next time I am online and not leading an event hit me up and I have no problem healing a few dungeons with you. EL

Eluveittie,

Thank you for the suggestion and offer of help. You are the best. I think (I will speak with Fog first though) try and see if some of the newer 70's would like to take you up on your offer. Perhaps we can even come up with a planned time for each week or whatever works for everyone. I know Redlass would want to take advantage of it. If Fog gives me the "go ahead" I will attempt to get four of us together and with your help and guidance, we all can learn how to do these events. If you are too busy with your TD runs to take on anything else, on a scheduled basis let me know. If anyone reading this thinks it is a good idea for them also, let me know.

Omg I wrote up a thing and its gone cause phone stuppid ;_;

Personally, the not knowing anyhing is my favourite part of dungeons. IMO the funnest/best way to experience dungeons is to do it with a whole bunch of newbies and fail miserably together and figure it out as we go.

I don't enjoy having someone "explain" a dungeon to me as that takes away from my experiencing it if that makes is sense. OR like you experienced in a PUG being the only person that doesn't know what's happening.

That's where guilds come in handy :) I avoid pugs of any kind in every game as much as I can. That is also why I joined this guild, to have people to play with and not having to pug. Not only have people to at with but also the quality of people. It feels like in this guild people are incredibly kind and patient. When/if you ask for help, you will get it. You won't get laughed at, scolded or abused in any way for not knowing your sh*t.

Anyway I'm just on a really unhelpful rant lol

To the more helpful part, I do have some characters in rift, I havnt played in years and would be a utter noob to do dungeons with. If you have any trouble finding people (I'm sure you will get plenty of people interested, just in case you don't) let me know and I'll be happy to hop back into rift :)
