@Raiders Re: Family Chat

Greetings Guys,
I've had an issue arise this week and have no idea where it started or where it's going but I can tell you it wont be tolerated. Before you get all defensive I want to ask that you realize that I don't know who said what, or who did what. I just know that something happened and it's not cool.

Guild Chat
We do not tell the family to be quiet in guild chat because your in a dungeon. I understand that you need to see the text going by for your raid group. So please take the time to create a new tab:

1. Click on the + on the right side of the chat window
2. Type "Raid"
3. Click "Ok"
4. Right Click on the Raid Tab and select Settings
5. Click Player Messages
6. Mark "Raid Warning", "Party", "Raid" and "Tell" (if you want)
7. Click Game Messages
8. Click "NPC Say"
9. Click Ok.

Now use this tab while your raiding and guild chat won't flood your chat window. It's a simple solution that will save you all the heartache.

It is at not time acceptable to tell family members to "Shut Up because were in a Raid". We have 5,000 characters in this family and we are a "SOCIAL" community. You can not expect the family to be quiet while your in a 4 hour raid. That's just not how we roll. You can simply silence the chat with the quick 9 step process above.

Please remember we are a family, communication is our lifeblood and asking our family NOT TO TALK is quite honestly against everything we are. If you want a guild that goes silent for you during raids I suggest finding a much smaller guild. That's not going to happen here, and I will not tolerate rudeness to family members. Blades out not in please.

Aye, I have 1 tab for everything including global. 1 tab for everything except global, and 1 tab that's raid/party/say/yell/tell only. Another thing that can help - if you're getting annoyed about getting tells from a gadzillion people at once, there is an "/dnd " (do not disturb) that is like the afk, but it doens't mark you afk. I put it up when I'm getting too many tells - I /dnd RAIDING, I will send ya a reply when I'm free.

I read this and actually thought it was a joke...who on earth would try to stop an entire guildchat because they were raiding?? Tsk tsk.

Is it possible that this was a request to stop talking in the vent raid channel? It seems crazy that anybody would expect guild chat to stop for a raid, but there are often requests to silence vent during raid encounters other than critical communication.

We have separate channels in Vent for raiding. If someone not in the raid is in the channel chatting then politely as k them to leave the vent channel. I highly recommend against trying to run a raid in a none raid channel.

@ Moeri and Don This was not a vent request as the parties involved were not in vent. The persons involved were having a polite conversation regarding computers in guild chat and then were told through tells in not so nice terms to stop chatting because it was messing up raiding. The parties came to me in confidence knowing I would speak with officers / Fog about the issue at which time Fog address this issue promptly. The issues have be resolved and the persons involved have been spoken too. Just wanted to clarify things for everyone and Fog clarified the guild chat policy regarding chat and raiding. Thank you!
