OT Movies worth the Sit

I recently had the chance to watch a few new movies, and as I am as big a movie nut as I am a gaming nut I wanted to pass along my input on a couple movies I thought well worth the sit time.

The Grey. Action/Suspense/Drama. Personally I think this tops Neesons work in Taken.
Machine Gun Preacher. Indie/Suspense/Drama. Not a box office Smash But well done.
Immortals. Action/Drama. All around Fun movie to watch. Not true to the Theseus story, but fun nonetheless.

We saw Ghost Rider 2 over the weekend, complete waste of time, was horrible. I want to see THe Grey!!!

.....And if you are not watching the Spartacus series on Startz, you are wrong... just sayin :)

I am a pretty rabid fan of The Walking Dead! About halfway through the 2nd season and its fantastic. I second the Spartacus comment! If you are into "police procedurals" you really cannot go wrong with the BBC's Dexter-stars "Stringer Bell" from HBO's The Wire-fantastic show! BBC's MI-5 is a very solid spy/espionage series as well. BUT--dont miss The Walking Dead!

I saw This Means War over the weekend and that movie was quite the crackup. Also watched In Time recently and i have to say timerlakes better on screen than as a singer. Not a terrible move, not the best movie, but worth a single watch. Samine - I too Love the Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2. I read that AMC is going to continue the series and add more episodes. Other Series to check out that I have enjoyed so far: Deadwood - Sadly they wrapped up season 3 really fast and there are some loose ends :( Sons of Anarchy - c'mon the mom from Married with Children, Bikers and fights! The Shield - Hands down one of the BEST shows ever done Terra Nova - Hell on Wheels - the wild beginnings of the Union Pacific Railroad and of course - The Game of Thrones !!! Fog - Ive seen one of those on your list, The Warrior's way. I enjoyed it :) Ive had the option to see In Time, and passed on it. The closest thing to something like that I have seen recently is Water for Elephants, which was very good. Now if you want to talk Fav movies... well ... We would have to break it down by genre.

In Time is Gattaca + Robin Hood. Also reminded me of the Island a bit. If you liked Gattaca you'd like In Time.

For any old Starblazer Fans Space battleship YAMATO Not released in the US but there are All region DVDs available. The Shield was great!! NCIS and NCIS: Los Angles are good too!

I saw Hannah this weekend. It was pretty good.. the girl in it did an excellent job. If you loved Kill Bill it had a bit of that feel to it. btw I LOVED Kill Bill

That reminds me Chocolate (Thai) and Rising Phoenix (Thai) are both awesome as well as the Great Challenge and Yamakasi (French).

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Excellent The Sitter - The few LOL moments cant save this movie. Real Steel - Rock-Em Sock-Em robots on the big screen =) Same theme as Over the Top. Fun Movie. Fog - Are those SubTitled movies? I prefer to read books and watch movies :) I read, The Brotherhood of the Wolf when it came out on film and I liked it, but reading the subs took away from the overall feel of the movie, for me anyway.

To those that liked Timothy Olyphant (sp?) in Deadwood, you have to check out Justified on FX. IMO hands down the best tv series going right now. If you like the CIS and NCIS type shows a great comedic version of those The Finder is also a good watch. That is about all the TV I watch, the wife is to busy with all her reality shows to let me get anything in.

Yeah their all subtitled. Some are dubbed but i'd rather have the natural language. Brotherhood of the Wolf, I love this film, you'd be interested to know that Christophe Gans was a student of Luc Besson and Luc Besson helped him with that movie as part of his learning process. Luc Besson did not take credit for the film and gave all the credit to Christophe Gans. Luc Besson is one of my favorite writers/producers/directors who has taught so many talented directors. Some of his students include: Louis Leterrier - The Transporter, Unleashed, Transporter 2, Clash of the Titans Pierre Morel - Taken, From Paris with Love, District B13 Gérard Krawczyk - Fanfan la tulipe (awesome movie), Taxi 2, 3, & 4, Wasabi Olivier Megaton - Transporter 3, Colombiana, Taken 2 (coming soon) Chris Nahon - Kiss of the Dragon, Empire of Wolves, Blood: The Last Vampire and the list goes on. and even helped Gary Oldman make his first directorial debut. He's been a part of hundreds of movies and only taken credit for half of them. He is very active in the international film circuit and has openly stood against Hollywood over the years to the point Hollywood boycotted his movies and in turn he decided to build Cinema City as a place where both movies can be made and students could go to school at the same time. It's said to be the largest film college in the world as well as being the largest film studio hub across the Atlantic. Cinema City. The city is said to open this year. By far my favorite director of all time.

I miss Chuck so much. :( I've been watching Grim on Friday nights and its pretty good. The Blutbaden (kinda like a were-wolf) is seriously awesome.

I worked for the producer of grimm when he did the movie fork in the road. Him and his brother are awesome guys and pretty fun to work with. Also the guy that did the first national treasure.

I really like the T.V. ones that Fog mentioned. Tried to watch Once Upon A Time and it was a flop to what they really could have done with it. Love Grimm and it's NBC's 1st show they've picked up for the rest of the season. So I bet they were really working hard to get the rest of the season completed. Nikita was awesome. Max Headroom I liked as well. Need to track down that down again Starship Voyager because of Janeway as the Capt. It was nice to see a female lead and I felt she played it well.

I'm also enjoying Grimm and Once Upon a Time actually has me hooked now. I thought I was the only one who liked Moonlight. :) Other shows on my Hulu queue include The Vampire Diaries, Warehouse 13, Haven, and Sanctuary.

I totally forgot my favorite BBC TV shows: IT Crowd!!!! MISFITS! Robin Hood Torchwood Being Human (NOT THE SIFY Version) Coupling was funny back in the day Merlin and I forgot: The Glades The Dresden Files

Totally agree about The Dresden Files. It wasn't as good as the books but it could have gotten there with a bit more time. Another favorite of mine is Supernatural. We saw Cowboys and Aliens a few days ago on video and it was a good renter but I wouldn't have been all that happy if I'd seen in the theater.

Hmm... Game of Thrones season 2 looks promising heheh

Game of Thrones on HBO - cant wait for that to start. The waiting sucks, but at least its not 4+ years in between seasons (like the books). I worry about them dropping it before getting to the end though. Cowboys and Aliens - def a good rental, I agree that it would have been dissappointing in the theatre. I watched The Eagle last night and enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to seeing John Carter this weekend. I'm a fan of the books, and hoping that Disney does a decent job with its $250 million budget for this one.

I watch entirely too much tv but my must watch list is currently: The Walking Dead Archer Person of Interest Burn Notice Spartacus Psych Adventure Time (I'm not ashamed to admit it... maybe I should be) Shows I watch but aren't sold on yet: Finder - the hidden pilot on Bones was much better than the series Game of Thrones - I may as well watch a slasher movie. It doesn't look like they followed the plot of the books when they made John Carter... at least based on the trailers. Still want to see it, though.

Going to be seeing John Carter with my daughter this weekend. She loves action flicks and is totally bored by normal little girl movies..shes 6.5. (She also loved Journey 2...*sigh* I hope its better than that) Looks like they used Michael Whelans concepts for the 4 armed alien guys, which made me very happy. Next must see on the list is, of course, The Avengers :) Will have to get a sitter for the little one when Prometheus comes out..heh..the therapy bills would be huge if I took her to that one! *snicker* My dad made the mistake of taking me to Alien when it was in theaters. Just *had* to see it lol..didnt sleep for what seemed like weeks after that! Was sure there were facegrabbers under the bed. Current fiction faves on TV Person of Interest and Game of Thrones.

Shows I miss dearly Chuck Prime Suspect Sopranos Boston Legal I have watched The Finder , The Tudors was good, I saw all of the Girl with the Dragon tatoo movies in sub titles. and I loved the movies was afraid that the american version would not have been as good. Talk about subtitles .. My husband and I rented Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and watched it all in chinese... thought to myself would have loved to not have to read during the whole movie. The next morning I game in the living room and our son was watching it in english and I almost died ..did not know you could change the options....boy talk about feeling stupid.. :)
