What is our Policy when dealing with Botters?

I'm trying to camp a rare spawn which these things have super long spawns sometimes days or weeks. This guy Killegan a lvl 50 Mage in the guild called SUN is on a rotation around Deadman gorge killing everything targettable along his path and makes a oval up and down Deadman's Gorge. target kill skin repeat.

I've appealed him 4 times. I've cleared the mobs in the area of my Rare spawn and this guy continues the same path each time looking for mobs. He does this for hrs upon days upon weeks. I've tried talking to him, following him, talking in chinese to him nothing

If Trion is doing nothing to stop this player from cheating and indirectly affecting my chances at this Rare mob. What are my options.
Leaving the area isnt an option I need this Rare for my Ultimate Hunter Achievement.
I was told griefing him wasnt our way even though he is cheating.
So what are my options?

The Guild SUN didnt show up cause I had Greather then less than signs.

I reported 2 botters and Trion took care of it. Are you absolutely sure you are using the correct choices during the petition process? Also...no we do not allow botters in the guild. That is usually a sign someone has been hacked.

You could try ticketing it to a gm, explaining the situation directly, if you haven't already. /report systems in games tend to be heavily automated in order to save on man power and cut down on abuse. Unfortunately that makes them poor for quick resolutions. Part of that automation often requires multiple reports from multiple sources, within a certain time frame. The area he is active in ( Scarlet Gorge?) Isn't particularly active I think, which could be why no action has yet been taken, and probably why they chose that spot rather then one more valuable. Situations like this are usually the result of a hacked account's characters being abused as those organizations have little to lose when the account is eventually banned. If you do have some grievance with the actual player howler it's best to approach the leadership directly, e-mail vent in-game ect. Complaints and accusations on the forums can lead to unnecessary drama and people inadvertently crossing the "Swords out not in" policy. Person is not our guild. The Greater then and Less than symbols I used on either side of SUN hid the entry.

I did the Double Petition abd filled out support tickets for Reporting players. They say my Status is solved which its not. I had same problem in Moonshade Highlands and Droughtlands with other Botters using similar program to farm loot and skin mobs near another rare spawn I was camping.

My Appeal process was Help > Contact GM Tab> Report player> write petition > Get generalized response> Update Current Issue status: Solved. Players still there doing it for several days after the fact

Thankfully I got The Predator a few minutes ago. This guy isnt a normal player. He is a Farmer account or a Bot. Any interaction with him whatso ever yields no result. Talking in English or Simplified Chinese, emotes, Clearing the area where I was camping the person makes the same Beeline run up and down this river even when no mobs are around. I went so far as to /follow him and watch his routine. It was same movements same loop for 30 minutes (Yes I am very thorough before I call someone a cheater). This isn't an isolated incident. Had same issues in other zones with this style of Farmer/Bot doing the exact same thing. My Concern is if Trion doesn't do anything about them we as a whole are suppose to alter our game play to make us the victim because these people insist on doing this to sell players game money for RL cash. Example- Would it be any different if said person was preventing you from completing a epic quest because they were killing all the mobs in an area for days/weeks (yes every time I logged on after spending 14+ hrs a day camping a spawn or popping in in the morning for a quick second) everytime you went to finish an epic quest that person was there clear cutting everything. Asking them to stop did nothing, or asking to share got you no where, emoting didnt do anything, appealing did nothing. At what point do you go ok this is BS and do something about it? So the concensus would be if your having a problem like this and Trion refuses to help your outta luck find something else to do. My Only option would be to make an unguilded Toon and perform vigilante style tactics on this person.

I understand your frustration. Honestly aside from seeking resolution with Trion Support, I don't think there is anything you can do. Why won't they do anything about it? I don't know. I am out of suggestions.

Gelrooz, I understand your frustrations, but the only thing we can do against players we think are bot's, is to report them. Give the customer service as much information as you can, be positive in your writing (they listen to enough mad people, so being friendly gets their attention). Give them as much as you can and remember that you can record video of the player or bot while it's being done and upload this too them. Also remember as stated earlier that much of their response system is automated and if it gets closed as solved, you can reopen it again, that have for me triggered a live person response. If the player is family, get a hold of an officer and s/he will deal with it very fast, still the only thing we can do is to kick people from the guild.

I know who you are talking about -- I ran into Killegan last night in Shimmersand. He was definitely botting and killed anything in his path, including mobs tagged by others. It was annoying because the quest I was doing called for channeling an item on a mob and he would run over and kill my mobs before the channeling finished. Apparently Rift doesn't take action on botters because I ran into him months ago in the same spot the very first time my character went to Shimmersand. I reported his actions at that time, giving a very detailed account of what made me certain that he was not manually controlling his character. I understand your frustration. :(

I have yet to play a reasonably known mmorpg where the was not some form of grinding going on, possibly to sell the results for real world cash. That can involve bots, report them well and bots tend to go away eventually. On the other hand, Vigilante tactics/harassment can get you banned. Remember, If they respond to the GM, then they are not a bot. This may just be their strange little moneymaking method/relaxation ritual. P.S. If you have complaints against you, it will influence the GM's judgement. Might be a good idea to get someone with a "clean" record to make a report on the character as well. As you mention not being able to get a response from the character, and trying several methods and languages, you may of been reported.

Best bet is to ignore them and go on about your business. Appeal them. If their family tell me and ill confront them and possibly kick them. We as a family do not tolerate cheating. Bots are scripted. Figure out the pattern and counter it if your trying to get a node/mob from them. It takes less time to formulate a course of action than it does to formulate a complaint. see this as a challenge and find that course of action. Dishonorable people will be dishonorable regardless of what you do. Just make sure they don't make you lower your standards. Keep your chin high and move on.
