Question on getting GSB/DH/HK ready progression

Hello everyone. Valjin here.
I am very new to MMO's and the process of progressing to be properly geared to take on Raids such as GSB and HK. What I wanted to ask is, what are some tips that people might have as well as suggestions on how to properly get gear to do those type of raids.

I have been level 50 for a few weeks. Been working hard to do my dailies as well as hit 300 on all my professions (findally did last night! woot!) so I can gain the appropriate crafting recipes.

As of now, I currently have around 950 spell bower (with a burning powerstone), little over 500 spell crit and over 140 focus.

Granted, right now, most of my may armor is PVP rank 2 gear as I have been working to get PVE gear.

Should I be running T1's or T2's right now? Should I work to try and get crafted armor for my PVE gear? Was not quite sure and was hoping to get some feedback here.

Appreciate everyone helping me. Gaiscioch has been fantastic at making my first MMO experience a great one!

Cheers,

Thecoffeeguy

Grats on 50, and nice to meet you! First question, are you a mage or a cleric? :) Also, do you heal, dps, or (if you are a cleric) are you tanking? Either way, if you can get your epic crafted gear going, do it! They are great, the best before you can buy your Mark of Ascention gear. (t3 raid vendor bought gear.) Some people recommend going straight to t2s - I personally STRONGLY recommend doing both t1s and t2s, for loot, for experience, and for learning game mechanics. Oh, and for achievements as well. Plus, they are fun, and that is what the game is for, right? *grins* I did a guide on what I worked on - and am still working on - to get raid ready. It may help. http://rift.gaiscioch.com/lore/what_i_am_doing_to_get_raid_ready.html

Hi Olora, Thank you for your reply. Ya, forgot to mention that I am a Mage. I have 4 roles right now (working to get my 5th slot open) and have a healing spec for dungeons (51 chloro/11 Dom/4 Warlock), a DPS spec that I am tinkering with, a solo spec, and one PvP spec. I would like to get my 5th slot here ASAP so I can spec a support role with Archon. Right now, anytime I queue up for dungeon using LFG, I always end up being the healer. :) Thank you for the guide. I appreciate it. Ok, so I will keep running T1's, T2's and DRR and work to get my marks for Tier 3 Raid Gear (is that the vendor in the little tavern place behind Sanctum? Mage Relic's I think is what I have been looking at. You get the marks from T2 dungeons). Thanks again. I will look at that guide. Cheers TheCoffeeGUy

While it is technically possible to get those marks from running random t2's you'll be forever and a day doing it. :p Gear from T2's and epic crafting should be enough to get your foot in the door with the first tier of raids. Also look into boosting rep with some of the late game factions as their vendors carry some handy things.

i got some crafted gear to start w/. added t2 gear bought w/ marks. getting excellent essences was important - fortuantely the isles gives additional opportunity to get the stones to purchase these. guild family events are great for also getting stones and planarite. guild expert raids are a good idea. doing the daily raid rift as well. focus on a role you like the best and work on that a while in t2s. you will get the chance to get offspec drops as you go along. welcome to 50 :)
