Off Game topic but flea dip

So I had been looking around for some of the flea dip I used on my animals (ITS super cheaper compared to buying advantage etc for once a month especially if you have multiple animals) .. and years ago this worked like a charm -- and I would not say harmful cause I had a cat live to 23 who was doused with this stuff and a dog to 16 who endured it as well.)

Anyway the stuff I used to buy I could not find, a discussion on the defiant side made me look it up .. sure we are going most of us on this hemisphere to the winter months when there will be less fleas ... but something to keep in mind.

I found this for sale on web or local store ... and the pyrethin is what I am pretty sure was in the old brand I used to buy and works real quick to kill existing fleas ... it does not say anyting about eggs so .. keep that in mind.

I have used the Adams products before ... but before you buy a flea and tick mist .. think of this .. they lick themselves ... would you lick it off if it was sprayed on you? I think not, so I don't like dusts or sprays .. a dip however kills the stuff then you can blow dry them.

Have you ever tried to blowdry a cat for the first time ... well just trap them in the bathroom turn it on .. don't aim at them then point it closer and closer to the cat .. they will like the warm air once they realize its not harmful and allow you to fluff their fur while drying. (NOT on HIGH it burns your skin when held close don't do it to them lol!) And gentle praise along with a towel to cuddle in your lap works wonders. Make sure to wash your hands if you don't want to ingest the dip!.

Same rules go for dogs that may not know what a blow dryer is .... slow and gentle with praise and turn the thing on yourself as well .. they will come to beg for it after a bath and love it cause its mommy and daddy time with a literal warm feeling.

Hope this helps and here is a link to one dip yall may have better suggestions.

Dipping Cats

I would strongly suggest doing this in your kitchen sink or bathroom sink depending on size of both the cat and the sink. It's a contained area and the cat will feel more in control. Remember to move your toothbrush etc anythign you consume if in kitchen or bathroom out of the way or be sure to clean your strainers hanging pots utensils etc .. You don't want to swallow flea dip nor do your pets.

If this is your cat's first time .. well you will be in for a ride no matter the age .. some folks use soft large rubber bands .. but for a dip really .. it only takes less than a minute to coat moast of their body as you are DIPPING them ... not bathing them ... so you can successfully singlehandedly hold all 4 feet and dunk up to neck in a sufficently sized sink, watch for bites though. (unelss you got a maine coon ... well sinks are prolly a no go lol!) Again to coat the head well you are gonna have to kinda sponge that so you don't get it in kitty or even doggy eyes .... so work up to the trust factor on that and don't expect it at once ... a body dip will do wonders even though fleas will 'flee' to the ears, eyes and nose of pets ... we have to go one step at a time till pet trust is earned. So expect to be doing the brush on method for the back of their neck and top of head .. just don't DUNK the animal heh ... you know how it sucks when soap is in your eyes .. don't do this to them.

Since we are talking about dipping not bathing ... another option is and this may sound cruel .. but put cat in pillow case with their head out .. love on them and make them think kitty in the case is a new game ... then dip them . you may have to submerge longer to let the water seep to their skin from the pillow case but you will only have to watch out for biting if your cat doesn't trust you.

General Info

For large dogs well I don't think they make baths large enough for them unelss you want to buy 20 bottles and put it in your jacuzzi the kitchen sink won't work .. i do believe mixed properly there are sponge bath instructions and methods for that you will have to employ.

Your cats will differ, at first most of mine over the years were resistant .. but then one just went limp when in water and cried pitifully waiting for it to be over .. he was a joy to dip heh.

In the end 15 minutes of traumatic life is worth a few months of non scratching .... fyi I tried the once a month stuff but I have 3 cats and 2 dogs .. its expensive each month for that .. this is a far cheaper solution that just takes some time to find your own system for the pet personalities you currently have.

Some other tips .. when using a sponge to help coat the pet, and this may go without saying .. flag it and tag it in a ziploc bag to use the next time .. just in case your run out of sponges and think ... wow this one is brand new!

Also rememer that flea dip will be on the towels you used to hand dry your pets before blow drying ... no harm it letting them sit out a bit if you have carpeted floors to catch any free flowing fleas in your carpet ... I do it on wood floors just not too long!
