Wondering about all those unclaimed characters

I was looking for one of mine in the list and noticed we have a LOT of unclaimed toons. Many are level 50, even.

I stopped counting at 800...and wasn't even through with the names beginning with L...

Is there a reason why so many people aren't claiming their toons? PPerhaps an email sent to the in-game email of these players would help make them aware?

I saw many names there of players who have only that one unclaimed toon, and I've partied with a few and seen them involved in SAGA and TLS raid groups. So they definitely have been missing out on family honor points.
I just hate seeing people participating in events and doing dungeon runs with the guild, but not getting any credit for this on the site.

Hope nobody minds me pointing this out. I'm just trying to find out if there is a deliberate reason why someone would never claim an active toon.

This is part of the way we work. We have more than enough information to lead people to register and claim their character. Taking the Initiative to do so brings rewards. It is not required however. If people don't care to register or participate then they wont be promoted. It's one of the many checks to see if people will take initiative to help themselves and better the family.

As a brand new member, I'm having a lot of fun in the guild even without the website as it took a few days for my characters to show up. I can fully imagine a person being quite happy just in-game. In my short handful of days, I've done dungeons, a raid, been powerleveled thru countless rifts on my alt, made some friends, DRR, helped with epic quest... It's basically made Rift as exciting as it was last spring. Who needs a website if you're already having fun?

Oh but AimyMulch, this isn't your normal everyday guild site! You can gear up your toon, get crafting mats, etc by placing orders on the marketplace. No plat involved, just use your Family Vault Credits. You earn Family Vault credits by: 1. Participating in things like the Telara Saga community event and Telara's Last Stand, or if you join in on groups of at least 4 guild members and then afterwards claim your participation on this site, 2. by filling orders/making items/sending mats to guildies who have requested them from this site's Marketplace. After you've claimed your participation for in-game groups/event you'll be rewarded with Family Vault Credits to spend on this site, which you can then use to request just about anything you need for your toon in the game. Maybe even Fog's kitchen sink! lol No need to spend money on the AH. Click the Marketplace link at the top of the page, and then the 'Request Item' button if you want to see what I mean.

Yes, truly it's an amazing system that's the backbone for the family.
