Crifting Events FAQ for Prospective Leaders and participants in guild or out

I have been absent recently, and Rshiel also had some breaks cause of school and while we worked together with many others to post a FAQ for participants .... I think its time to share some thoughts and suggestinos for leaders and a general FAQ.

Crifing .. AKA Crafting raid rifts was dubbed this by a mistaken typo by our beloved Hoarfrost who says he has sponge lures .. as in he doesnt have lures but will help protect clear and provide safety to lowbies when needed .... then sponge the mats he gets lol!. Remember even if no lures your are welcome, but do know when the total number of folkd participating reaches about 50-60 we have diminishing returns and some will not get loot .. its a game mechanic.

Another term used is Sea's Bone ... (named affectionly for one of our guardians sea-XXXXXXX who was the first to recognize this landmark and help herd cats to this area during downtime.) Sea's Bone is also called the bone ... this is a semi central non aggro area in the dunes of akala where we congregate in between the tears that will pop 2 every 10 minutes ... no we dont have to clear all the tears/rifts in the area; we have successfully tested having 5 majors up we still got 2 new tears .. and having those 5 tears up can mislead griefers from coming out there as they think we are not active. Another advantage non clearing affords us is the ability to limit tears to the central area without long runs north and south. Raid leaders tactics will vary but this is a FAQ so putting it out there for some.

Now that we have 2 very active guilds one on each side and additionally allies etc that follow us each week, I thnk its important to mention that even though someone is not in 'our guild' you should always treat them with respect. Even if they are griefing or blatantly choosing to be disrepsectufl of the lowbie side.

We are representatives of this guild and ambassadors to our allied folks that want to hang with us. It is important for the crifting leader to take charge via private tells when possible with the griefer and try to find a solution; If no compromise can be found, sure let folks be wary, but dragging someones name to the dirt over and over can be harmful to the perception of this guild by our pugs and allies that also join us in vent. Its frustrating I know .... but think of the big picture and use diplomacy the best way you can without causing raid wide drama.

So all this been kinda serious its just some things observed and yall may wanna smack me and thats cool too. Now onto a more straightforward FAQ thing.

Leaders:
1) Make sure you group is marked private .. then invite those that ask ... make sure to hotkey the basic rules in say when at the bone (NO YELLS .. its rude and just brings griefers) AKA example ... 'Please no AOE's, No pets and slow dps, lowbies to far side, highbies to near side as we approach a tear.'. A folloup second hotkey may say 'Remember you only need to hit the mob once not overkill, overkills will not get you more material and only diminishes the chances for others to get a hit in.' Saying please is a courtesty and I stronly emphasize using it in your macros. We have seen pugs be nice or say rude things depending on how they are approached.

2) The pet question comes up alot and folks will say I will put him on passive .. you need to have a hotkey explaining in say; once again since you have 2 sides and not all in vent ... 'we say no pets because we have mixed factions and while you are not PVP flagged your pet will still come up in target window for the opposite faction.'

3) this one maybe should have been said before number 2 but having a hot key which tells folks to turn off their pvp not only from clicking their portrait but also where to find it in settings is highly useful, not only for crifting but also for leading other family events .... so I would hotkey something for that.

4) We have a vent server capable of so much more than we use it for .. and I do believe Fog has no issue with us inviting others .. he does it for family events etc ... so make a hotkey with our vent info for crifting .. we have gotten several new family members from them hanging with us in vent during crifting then joinging formerly on and alt etc ... but regardless of that .. its a good way to effectively communicate ... so hotkey our vent info for a say.

5) sometimes we do free for alls, but when we are doing a scheduled run in order .... have the order hotkeyed! for sure for sure!. If a defiant is leading make sure to copy and paste from the guild website so you can spam it for guards and vice versa .. you will be aked this about 10-50 times per event.

6) When it is a scheduled order - set expectations .. say we are going to try to do x number of lures (keeping in mind that 2 tears every 10 minutes so max of 12 per hour per type). So saying 10 lures is about an hour or so, but also be aware of how runs have gone on during the week, something may have been skipped or omitted from scheduling so a good leader will try to accomodate if possible filling the gaps from the week by doing more or less. Its also good to give folks warning of about 2-4 lures before the swap .. some may chose to sit out a couple and stretch store run etc ... And again I am looking at this if 10-12 are available ... smaller runs during the week may have different results .. but ask in say so you get both sides .. not in vent .. who has xxxxxxx lure and how many so all know.

7) this probably should have been number one but as a leader you are leading ... you should have a minimum of 6 rally banners that you can use or pass off to folks without them; to call other folks into YOUR RAID get fillers latecomerc etc. And if you are doing a full set on one toon that only covers the initial changeover ... we all know folks join all the time mid run and thank goodness for our guildies that bring banners with them! Try to appreciate them with thanks cause they are 50g each and for some low folks that is a ton of money! (also while we may have guards and defiants .. its important that either side you want to lead if main or second lead ... you bring banners .... been seeing some banner shortages .. so mentioning it.

8) Some folks say why cant we crift in other areas ... Well the mats dropped are limited by the level of the rift .. we choose the 50's one becuase of the sheer cost of lures and the requiement to make a lure is from 60 mats. Over the course of time, groups have looked at other ares .. none keep the lowbies safe, semi ensure our ability to pop nor have a centralized rally point like shimmersand.

9) I hit 3 mobs and got planarite. If the raid group(s) appraoch about 50-60 we start getting diminishing returns ... sometimes a log in log out will help but there is a cap to what a rift will produce and those that dont get mats is very very random so dont overkill to try to adjust. We sometimes have to call it when to large.

10) I know that xxxxx tanked for me for 6 hours and xxxxdx saved my butt 50 times today with heals but I cannot give them a token of appreciation cause they are not listed on the event? I cannot stress this enough ... it takes a village to do crafting rifts .. from those that help supply folks for lures, to those that build the lures, the tanks, the healers, the leaders etc ... they simply cannot be all listed all the time in every event.

HOWEVER .... in looking at our guild page if you know the login for that person, you can go to I believe its family tree find their name (and this page takes a very long time to load be patient) and you can give them a token and leave a comment. If folks make your day and experience just because they were not the 'leader' of the crifting event ... you do have the power to give them a thumbs up!

11) As a raid leader on either side .. make all your folks assistants so they can catch invites while you are logging our victories, explaining rules, or in tells. This will help you out immensely.

12) Jump online 30 minutes before you event and advertise it .. both sides if possible but at least on one! ... get folks excited and let them know these expectations you have already macroed above, (you just maked a second set for guild! stead of say)

13) hot key perhaps the location of the rally scroll vendor depending on what side you are on and how to use rally scrolls to get folks to us ... Going hand in hand with this .. be prepared to explain how rally banners work and about hitting 'P' then guild perks to pop a guild rally banner versus clicking a scroll.

There are prolly 15 things I have forgotten to say but I am sure yall will add them in comments heh! I will gladly add them to this long winded post.

I hope this is a good start to a FAQ for Crifting for Leaders and Participants alike.
