1.5 Crafting Changes

Here's the cut and paste from the 1.5 notes on Crafting (which haven't been reversed yet. I also remember them talking about some item (bag of random goodies?) that you can purchase with Artisan Marks that will be added in. Expect the popularity of Crafting rifts to go up if you can start getting plaque rewards from any crafting rift :-), although I suspect if they don't drop the cost of the Artificer one that there will be a lot less lures made if people can use the plaques from any other (cheaper) profession for Artificer recipes.

No word that I have seen anywhere on new recipes.

CRAFTING
* Skill-specific Plaques have been converted into Master Crafter's Marks.
* Master Crafter's Marks will now drop and reward wherever the previously skill-specific Plaques would (Apothecary Plaque, Outfitter Plaque, etc.).
* All Epic crafting recipes are now purchased with Master Crafter's Marks.
* Reduced the amount of Eternal Planar Dust required to make the components for the weekly Crafting Rift lure quests. Slightly increased the amount of store-bought materials needed to offset the cost reduction.
* You can now receive Inert Shards, Stones, Gems, Crystals, and Prisms from Apothecary daily quest reward bags and chests, as well as Apothecary Crafting Rifts.
* Skilled Alchemists can now obtain the recipe for Pure Valorstone from the Favor Quartermasters in Sanctum and Meridian. Pure Valorstone can be used to add Valor to crafted armor for those looking to gain a leg up in the battlefields of Telara. The crafted armor must be of level 47 or higher to be made with Pure Valorstones.
* Endurance bonuses from crafted item sets can now stack with each other.
* Fixed the skill level requirement to craft Carmintium Lariat.

I'm not a huge crafter (I was at first, but slowly losing interest due to all the gating they've put in place on obtaining recipes). I really don't see this as a benefit to anyone that is a crafter other than making the plaques generic.

The Alchemy changes are good news for crafters. Inert Prism components dropping in Crafting Rifts should drop the price of an Epic Stat Augment (+10 to a Primary Stat) from 22 platinum to around 6 - they previously were too hard to get (needing epic planar essence loot drops which were exceedingly rare - 1 Prist would set you back 30+ Platinum until recently). This means that every crafted item should (and hopefully will) get an augment. Similarly, the Valour Augment will allow crafters to produce crafted items for PVP (with Valour on them). Not sure how much, but it is certainly an interesting option in the weapon slots where you don't get Valour until very high levels. It's not a big bonus (but then it wasn't a major crafting patch - we've had one recently), but that and the consolidation of plaques (at least if my artificer lures don't get cheaper I can use the cheap to get outfitter ones for recipe purchases) at least gives a few interesting things.

Consolidating plaques means we can get 3 per week. Off dailies instead of 1 per skill. That makes me happy face. I almost have all of the epic chain sets. For those that didn't know foghladha is targeting all things cleric so that I can better help other clerics gear up and learn to play one. I've also got 4 different epic mats recipes now which I'm kicking out daily. Soon ill have the last one I'm 297 skill in mining. Just need some time to find some orcanium. Soon ill be producing one of each every day for our crafters.

BTW can someone send me screenshots and ingredients needed for the Inert things? Want to add them to the marketplace but need a little heads up as to where they fit in. I also added: Ethereal Flux Magical Oil Endless Dust Reagent Enchanted Lacquer to the acceptable donations for 50 Contribution if anyone's looking to earn a bit more contribution. These will be used to convert materials into Epic Crafting Supplies to fill the families needs. We now have 4 characters in almost all professions able to convert on demand for the families needs. EDIT: Changed value to 50 after doing cost analysis compared to other materials and final component. 100 Contribution for 2, 150 contribution for making epic crafting item.

Why do the notes say skilled alchemists when there is no such tradeskill (giggle) I am sure they meant apothecary ... but alot of us call it alchemist. Another thing with the inert prisms dropping from apoth rifts .... do expect us to run them a bit longer as a specific, like we have run armorsmith longer in times past cause of the sheer number of recipes .. (we won't have to do this anymore for armorsmith and the pressure on making artificer lures will be reduced, and we knew this because of this upcoming change, also weaponsmith pressure with so few mobs will be nice. When this goes live look for my personal crifting to do something like run an hour .. bio break swap if you want etc .. pretty much what we do now ... but you may not have to keep flipping toons back and forth so much to have a specific crafter on board .... I would also suggest folks making lures do your cheapest first ... but with everyone thinking that way we could possibly end up with fewer lures overall but time will tell. Another thing with how I will run my crifting is: I will try to keep lures in a family together ... aka armor and outfitters and weaponsmiths together because those mats are used in all ... ( and yes sure artificer uses some of that too ) apoth is its own deal for the most part and rune its own kinda niche as well. So look for 'blocks' that match to be typical running order swapping the more singular ones around with the 'block'. This is purely so you can consolidate your mats more effectively and limit your cost of mailing to alts. For those of us running both guardians and defiants this is a godsend; you can run your defiants for say the first 3 hours then bring in your guards ... or vice versa. I know many of us have been looking forward to this change. I know we dont have a ton of folks making every single recipe on either side, but when this goes live I strongly suggest everyone update their appropriate thread with what recipes they have because I know myself personally I try to load balance on what the guild can make and choose my next recipe that way .... (so that there are options for folks to have something made on the fly - your results may vary heh!) Thats what I been planning waiting for this change, and I am enthusiastically looking forward to it. PS one last footnote the big question that the notes are not perfectly clear on ... If I am an outfitter, armorer, weaponsmith and we run an apothecary lure ... can I still get a plaque .... if not well then look for us to keep somewhat to our previous orders and changeovers. It says previously specific ... but .... does that mean you had to also be 300 in whatever it is you are running. That remains to be seen unless anyone on test has checked this out.

Fog, can we request the 4 items you listed (ethereal flux, magic oil, etc) on the marketplace? I would be able to fill orders daily for several of the epic crafting supplies if I could request those items. I couldn't find the new items listed anywhere, so if they are on the marketplace please let me know which category to look under.

The problem that I have with my artificer, is that she is my only crafter. I also have two gathering professions along with artificing used for collecting materials used as part of my profession. I do hope they adjust the cost for the artificer lures at some point to help others in my same situation. I've sent in feedback about this already. :)

Inerts are the result of the Apothecary salvage. Crystal Fragments, Gem Fragments, Inert Fragments plus appropriate level planar dusts have a chance to drop from salvaging Planar Essences. Five of the fragments combine to make an Inert (Inert Crystal, Inert Gem, Inert Stone). So it is like the other profession's salvage skills, except that the rarity (uncommon, rare, epic) of the essence is tied to the result. This is what made Inert Prisms so expensive, as to get them you had to either win an epic Essence off a raid rift and salvage it, or buy or win the low chance drop BoE epics from normal rifts. This salvage skill for apothecaries was only brought in in the last patch. After the patch, they will drop from crafting rifts, and also they indicated that high level essences of any rarity would have a chance to drop the high level fragments. This should significantly lower the price (depending on drop rate/salvage percent).

I'm the same as you Gwen, this 1.5 will do nothing for me at all. But, that being said, it will help the family as a whole, so that's a good thing. :)
