Warfront AFK

One of the things that is unfortunate about the bonused to Warfronts in weekends is it seems to make it attractive to people to do nothing and sit back and gain their bonuses (likely for losing). It is quite frustrating for those that are doing something (even if there are those like me that don't do it well :-)) to have others not moving or just running into walls. They can be removed if everyone reports them AFK.

Why post this, when it seems to be obvious? Well in two of my WF it was a guildie doing this. He was asked politely by myself (n guild and raid to do something - in fact the raid was quite polite when it asked him to do something or they would make him leave (most unusual for a WF). It is not a good look for the guild - especially a guild that operates honestly on both sides.

Please don't do this, it is increadibly fructrating, especially in the smaller warfronts. Don't AFK your way to the best gear, try to have a bit of fun in the war fronts on your way to the top.

You should contact an officer in the guild when you see members do this. I can understand that there can be a reason for an occasionally afk, things happens, but repeated times would let me to believe that they do not care about making all of the members in this guild look bad.

I thought that if you purposely went afk they fixed it so you would be booted out of the warfront? I don't care how many times I die I keep trying. If we lose because I die im sorry but If I can either heal or kill one or two in the process depending on who I am playing well I will .. Its not like your dead for good if your afraid of dying then warfronts arent for you I don't think. I think the most important things to remember is One to have fun doing what your doing and two its just a game and do the best you can and that is all anyone should expect. If someone in our guild is doing that I am sorry send them a tell they might ahve issues with their puter or real life ones..

Any way you look at it AFK in warfront is BAD for our family. If your caught doing it, there will be a mess for our leadership to clean up. It hurts our image very drastically and takes a long time before people stop judging us all over the actions of one.

I mailed Fog in game (I wonder if we should have a discipline officer so you don't have to get involved with everything) and then posted here. The first WF it happened I asked in guild in general terms for people not to do it, in order to give the guy a chance to change/respond. When the guildie was also in my next (immediate) WF I called him out by name (as did another in WF chat) and we got no response/action from someone attentive enough to requeue immediately. There were at least 2 others from Seastone server AFKing as well. I brought it up here (without mentioning a name) because I'm sure it is frustrating to people, and some may thing "they are doing it so I may as well". It gets noticed by people though, they recognise the name and will look to the guild tag as well.

It will be extremely bad for our image if allowed to persist unchecked. Those of us from Warhammer Online have seen first hand and likely remember well the bad reputations other guilds recieved when they allowed the same behaviour to persist in WAR Scenarios. How do the cross-server match-ups for Warfronts work? Is it possible to face other Faeblight players on the opposing side? AFK'ing in a Warfront could potentially have very serious consequences indeed given our guild spans both factions, if someone were to notice an active Gaiscioch on one side and an AFK Gaiscioch on the other.

I've all but stopped playing Rift now because the only thing left I enjoyed doing was being ruined by AFKers. Reading that guild members are jumping on the bandwagon just makes me sad. The only solutions I can think of for Trion will be exploited by these players anyway. The only true solution I can think of is to not reward players with Favor unless they 1. Kill or damage a player 2. Heal someone killing a player or 3. Do objectives. I'm tired of PvP in this game, not only that I believe I am tired of a large majority of the community. Gaiscioch was enough to keep me playing Rift, but without you guys, I would turn my back on MMO's altogether. Funnily enough I've been having more fun playing Permadeath Dungeons of Dreadmoor, a $4 indie game on steam. Triple A development means nothing if there is no risk vs reward. Allowing players to AFK all the way to Rank 8 is not Triple A development.

Cheating, exploiting, and this type of action are a quick way to exit stage left in this family. Its one of the most disrespectful and dishonorable things you can possibly do.

There is a big difference between knowing when not to fight and going AFK. A person who is AFK is a detriment to their team not only because are they not doing anything constructive, they are also filling the spot of someone who wants to play and would help the team. As an undergeared/underranked player, you do need to pick your battles. You don't charge solo into a large group of enemy players and then wonder why you die so much. Although I've certainly been known to charge in if it meant I could get a couple snares or slows off on a traveling flag carrier so the rest of my team could get there before a cap was made. A low rank player can help on defense, especially in calling out for help (saying the number of incoming opponents) BEFORE the opponent rushes to your node so others on your team can make it there in time. Maybe not in time to save you -- but to save the node or objective. A low rank player familiar with the warfront can also be effective in organizing the group and calling out strategies. If given lead, they can help mark healers. Being AFK in all your battles means you don't want to play. If you don't want to play, then don't queue.

As stated, please get with an officer. I booted someone just recently when someone reported they saw a guild member doing this through multiple warfronts. We want to set ourselves apart and keep our family in the best of light. Thanks

I'd like to apologise for some excessive venting in guild chat the other day that made it look like I was AFKing or suggesting it. I was gunning for rank 5 and after about 8 games in row of being farmed by rank 8's and premades, I lost my cool and made some embarassing noise in guild chat. As much as I've lost my cool and become overhwelmed with frustration, I've never AFK'd in a warfront, and I don't plan on it. Again I apologise for the noise I made in guild chat, there's no excuse for it, and I'll try to keep myself in check in the future.
