Rshiel's Crafting Raid Rules as of 8/17/2011

The crafting raids that I started a couple months back has become a huge success for our crafters as a concise place to get plaques, catalysts, and materials. It's become enough of a success that I needed to clarify a few items.

First, we have found that if there are more than 2 raid groups, even if everyone is doing what they're supposed to, lots of people end up not getting the mats, cats, or a chance at a plaque.

This past week, we had Lyrissa take a group up to Stillmoor to try and split some of the large size of what's going on. This worked for the groups in Shimmersand in that they were receiving more minor catalysts & materials, but the group in Stillmoor had severe issues getting rifts to pop with crafting lures.

Because of this, we are limiting the raids to 2 full raid groups on each side, for future crafting raids. People drop in and out enough that I don't think this will be an issue.

Second, Ventrilo. We need everyone in Ventrilo to organize and make things run smooth. Even if you can't speak, you need to be in Vent to listen. Gaiscioch has had the Ventrilo server donated for our use, let's make use of it. IF you have a hearing disability, please let the Raid leader know, and they will assign someone to type out the important details for you to be able to participate as well.

The Ventrilo information can be seen in the Guild Information page, by hitting G in game.

Third, loot rules. We've seen some needing of various things like puresources and potions, but here's how it is. We're running guild loot rules from here on out. Basically: If it's gear (a weapon, chest piece, ring, whatever) and you can use it in 5 levels or less, need it. For anything else, such as puresources or potions, Everyone Greeds. This is all a Family run, let's treat each other like family. =)

Fourth, crafting scheduling. To get the most out of getting plaques, since we are definitely sitting on trying to get 5 plaques a recipe, we're going to set a specific order for the different crafting roles. The order for Rshiel's raid this week is going to be: Artificer, Weaponsmith, Apothecary, Armorsmith, Outfitter, and then Runecrafter. This order will rotate weekly, pushing the first two into the last positions so that those with obligations will still have a chance to attend what they need. For example, the second week will be Apothecary, Armorsmith, Outfitter, Runecrafter, Artificer, and then Weaponsmith. The bet way to see what will be done in the order is to check that weeks post under the event calander.

This way, people will know which toons to bring when. We'll be spending one hour per crafting role, excluding the clearing we do initially. For other crafting raids, this order will likely be adjusted by whomever's leading, and will post that order for the creation of that event.

Fifth, For people below 42. IF you are below 42, you will be marked so the highers can protect you. We will mark a tank with a 1 for the lowbies. That tank will always go to the opposite side of the rift that the raid enters from, and will pull mobs specifically for the lowbies. If you are not below 42, you will ignore that mob, and stay away from the lowbie tank. With us keeping the raid limited to 40 people including lowbies at a time, this should not be a difficulty at all.

Sixth, how to play in this type of event. No one will use Area of Effect spells, no one will use pets (lowbies included). These limtitations allow everyone to have the highest chance of participation. You will hit a mob once per round then stop dpsing. So that all members now that we have defiant family with us get a chance at contribution.

Lastly: Rally Banners and Rally Scrolls. Please bring BOTH (at least one banner) to the raid. These are found on the Guild Charter Magistrate in Sanctum in the Tavern in the eastern part of Sanctum behind the Citadel. The overweight guy, named Gilbert Hilberto, who generally sits by the fire.

Rshiel (and Lyrissa) will be going back to school as of the first week of September (That Friday will be September 2nd, and we'll not be at home, we'll be in class). Rshiel's raid will be starting Saturday mornings instead at that point updated 10/31/2011

I made the same obersavtions, the crafting rifts don't scale up with the group size and too many people go empty handed. I actually wanted to suggest the same thing and I fully support what is written here, we already had many of those rules as unwritten rules and they are good rules. I wish there was another way besides limiting the number, but the way things are at the moment this is the only way it's going to work. Looking forward to seeing you all Friday! :)

I quit Rift three days before Gaiscioch returned there. Must have fumbled my luck roll.

I fully support and agree with these rules Rshiel and they will also apply on Mira's Sunday Evening Craft Rift events on the defiant side as well. These events are made doubly chaotic by the amount of competition and/or cooperation given by other guilds and groups from both factions farming the same rifts. Leaders are often having to communicate in says to other groups to help insure cooperation and maximum benefit to all - not just guildies. Having at least our guild members in vent helps lessen the strain on the leaders. Not only are the leaders herding all these cats - but recording rifts at the same time to put on the website for others to claim. Perhaps delegating some of the roles out to others Rshiel? Like a designated typist etc.

Quick question to clarify. Will we still be mixing Guardians and Defiants at the raids or should we focus on our particular time slots so that we can better account for the number attending?

Just a kudo's to rhsiel for getting this all in print and working with many members of the guild to get all thoughts and suggestions incorporated. I too myself will be using these rules as well, though the order my raids run will vary from hers - but will be posted in the event on the calendar. Mira- (on the typist thing - I think it states that we will ask for a typist for those that are hearing impaired when they request it from the appropriate raid leader) I think getting folks to use the vent server so kindly donated to us will alleviate some of the miscommunications, save time and repition in typing. It will also be a stop gap for folks not reading chat typing- being broken into multiple raids with not the same exact information being typed for that raid, and help us stop spamming the guild when trying to communicate with multiple raids.

If my friends and I attend these, we usually hang out and chat in another channel as they go on for a while and we do not want to disturb the raid with our joking etc. As long as we are not needing on items, and are not aoeing to make it unfair for others because things die too fast, is there any reason we need to be in vent? I am aware of how they work and the rules. I just enjoy Friday nights (my time) chatting with other ppl in my timezone in conjunction with the crafting rifts rather than being stuck in a vent channel silent - do you mind if we phantom in to the raid, but stay in our own channel? (It is not like crafting rifts are hard!!!)

The "crifting" worked really well today (at least for the part I was there for). I had a much better rate at getting crafting loot, only missing out on one or two rifts for the 20 or so I attended. The last 2 weeks were pretty dismal loot-wise, although still fun as always. One thing that I thought was effective today was having people put up necrotic (or other decorative) banners on the side where the lowbies were fighting. It made it easier to tell the non-guild visitors to fight away from the banner(s). Thanks to those who organize these runs. Your efforts are really appreciated. I look forward to the crifts every week; it has become a highlight of the game for me.

Gweniver to answer your question is i am trying to get a handle on how and if the changes I am making work. If you wish to bring your defiant I have no issue with it as I know you know the rules and will follow them. Mijjah again you fall under the same category as Gwen about the rules and i also know since you lead raids and stuff you understand just how frustrating people and things some days can be. Reminder that August 26 is the last Friday raid I will be leading as they move to Saturday as of September 3rd as I return to college on the 29th and will not be on weekday mornings again. Thank you, Rshiel

Since I am a teacher and school has started back I have not been able to meet on Fridays, so thank you for moving to Saturdays. I just realized that Saturdays will be an all day Rift event. I see a nap on the horizon between 'crifting' during the day and the family events in the evening. Naps are a good thing. :)
