The Telara Saga - Season One
Overview
Death spews from the planar tears that the Defiant Orphiel Farwind opened. First the consumption of the great Port Scion, and then the rest of Telara. The Gods will sit idle while Orphiel and Asha Catari continue to unravel the fabric of Telara. The Gods first brought back the Mathosian General Cyril Kalmar, A High Elven priestess Shyla Starhearth and Great Dwarven General Borrin Gammult to lead an army of reborn Guardians in reunifying Telara under the Banner of the Vigil.
The Telara Saga tells a tale of the rebirth of the Guardians, their trials to fortify their homelands, and ammass an army to take down the heathen Defiant's capital city. Champions from far and wide gather in this weekly community driven public event. The Guardians advance on Meridian, can the Defiant stop them or will they turn and cower as Aedraxis did in the past.
Season One Highlights
22 Weeks ago the Guardian Leader Cyril Kalmar tasked the Gaiscioch Leader Foghladha to assemble an army of Guardians from the finest guilds in the land. The mission was to establish a homeland, advance our frontlines, train the mightiest of warriors and siege Meridian to slay the Defiant Leaders.
The Guardians battled through invasion after invasion, rift after rift, crushing any of the opposing faction that stood in their way.Through their conquest the defeated 1191 Rifts,stopped 67 Planar invasions, destroyed 158 footholds, captured 31 ancient wardstones, slew 6 rare creatures, and defeated 11 titans. The soldiers were geared, trained, and ready to take on this final mission.
5 Weeks ago Foghladha was abducted and kept within a Defiant Camp. While the Guardians managed to rescue her before her execution, it was not before Foghladha had seen the defiant ways. Their inner workings, their strength and their weaknesses. The Defiant rely on technology to advance their culture while the Guardians rely on brute force, strength and honor.
The final chapter in the Telara Saga season one comes to a close on Tuesday Night as the Guardian forces Siege Meridian. Will the Guardians prevail and slay Asha Catari, Orphiel Farwind, Sylvar Valis, along with the warlords Rodan Ismos, Dacia Ultan, and Kaspar Massi. Or will the Defiant find their inner strength and stand proud against the Guardian invasion.... What will be the outcome of this endless war? Be there and find out.
The Siege of Meridian
The day came for the Guardians to siege. Soldiers came from near and far and ranged from newly ascended to war hardened veterans. The collected at the stairs of Sanctum as time grew near. 180 Soldiers came this day, to fight along side their Guardian brothers and sisters.
Right at 6PM Foghladha stepped out of the inner sanctum, tightening her armor straps, and stood proud. She thanked the troops for joining them on this siege. With pride she shouted "Guardians of Telara tonight is our night! 22 weeks ago Cyril gave us a mission! First to establish our homestead, then to push our front line across Telara. We stopped invasions, closed Rifts, destroyed footholds, and cleansed the Defiant resistance from the land. 11 Territories are now under Guardian control and today we cleanse the Defiant from their Capital. Tonight we siege Meridian and unite Telara under the holy Vigil!"
The Guardians marched to Freemarch where they formed up on the road just east of Meridian. Foghladha climbed onto a large stone overlooking her troops and shouted "Guardian's before you stands all the Defiant have to offer. Their finest warriors guard their final citadel in hopes to stop us from breaching their walls. Within those walls our war comes to an end." Foghlahda paused "Your families have homes because of the blood you've spilled, the invasions you turned away, and the strength of our people. We settled our homelands in Silverwood, trained our forces on the plains of Moonshade Highlands, and persevered through legions in the frozen lands of Iron Pine Peak. We advanced our front lines to where we stand now. We prevailed over Akala the desert queen and the Baron Krevic of Stillmoor."
With a wide grin and as she drew her mace she shouted "Tonight, we face our greatest foe yet. Tonight we leave our lives on the field for the sake of our families. With Asha dethroned we once again restore peace to Telara. Guardian's Tonight we show our might!"
Foghladha turned and shouted "Infantry at the ready!" At that moment 180 soldiers drew their weapons. "Archers at the ready!" with bows cocked and ready to fire Foghladha shouted at the top of her lungs "Ready yourselves soldiers of Telara! Let the Vigil guide your path! Charge!"
The first assault was a unexpected charge directly at the front gate. Warlord Shinobii had an ambush put in place at the stairs however the Guardian forces struck hard and fast with 160 soldiers. They breached the gate and took over the Training Yard. Before anyone could figure out what happened the whole world blacked out for two minutes and seventeen seconds. When the soldiers came to they were disoriented, cut off from their unit, and dazed in confusion. Within seconds the whole Guardian force was repelled and forced to reform their ranks before continuing their siege.
Several attempts were made at Kaspar Massi's life but none were successful. Every time the Defiant managed to stand strong and counter the Guardian's move. The war raged on and hundreds fell to their demise only to be resurrected to fight once again. The battle continued on for what seemed like an eternity. Each side falling and each side rising again.
Alas an attack was made on Dacia Ultan and as the Guardians did their best to assassinate her, Dacia kept her composure. She bolted at Foghladha knocking her to the ground and pulled from her belt a document. She leaned forward and before an action could be taken, she whispered into Foghladha's ear. The world went silent and Foghladha's eyes opened wide. Dacia stood over Foghladha and offered her hand. Foghladha shouted "Cease Fire! Guardian's Fall back! Reform the column and wait for orders!".
As the remaining Guardian forces reformed on the roadside east of Meridian, Foghladha read the document in utter surprise. She looked up and shouted "Warlord Shinobii! I request an audience with you." Shinobii accepted the request and the two stood between the two armies. Foghladha looked to Shinobii and said quietly "I would like to speak openly to your troops" as she passed Shinobii the document Dacia gave to her.
Shinobii paused with a puzzled look on his face and then turned to his soldiers and said, "Defiants! Fall back the Guardian wishes to speak. let her speak." Foghladha nodded to Shinobii and stepped forward allowing Shinobii a clear shot at her back.
With a face bearing regret Foghladha speaks to the Defiant warriors that stand before her, "22 Weeks Ago, Cyril asked me to form an army that would reunite Telara under one banner!" She pauses "22 Weeks Ago, I thought there was only one way."
Foghladha looks to the civilians on the hillside and shouts "5 Weeks Ago the Defiant forces captured me and transported be through their homelands, through their villages. I thought I knew my enemy." Foghladha smiles "But today, you stand before me, strong, proud, and United. For one cause. Dacia gave to me this document and asked me to read it." Foghladha holds the document in the air. "To my surprise it appears we have been used as a pawn in a much large game. The Dragon Cult is as work here. They've used us as a distraction. As a method to buy more time. Every moment we fight the ward grows weaker. They used Cyril's lust for power and Asha's quest for revenge against our people. They convinced us to fight among ourselves and ignore the rise of the Dragon Cult!"
With a saddened look on her face she asks "Warriors of Telara! How many lives must be lost? How much pain shall befall the people of Telara. Today we choose where we stand. It is only in our darkest moment that we possess the most potential to shine!"
Foghladha turns to addresses the battle hardened Defiant forces "Defiant's! You came back to this time with the brightest minds and purest intentions!" She turns and looks at the Guardians standing at her back. "Guardians! You were reborn for your Might and Honor!" She looks towards the croud gathering at the edge of the battle and shouts "With the Strength of the Guardians and the Technology of the Defiant's we shall dismantle the Dragon Cult once and for all."
Foghladha turns and looks at the wartorn and bloody forces. She throws down her medallion of the vigil and yells, "Today, I am no longer a Warlord of the Guardians!" Foghladha pauses "Today, I am a Warrior for Telara!" Foghladha looks to both the Defiant and Guardians and proclaims "Join me and strike the Dragon Cult with all of Telara's Strength. Lets restore our once peaceful home and end this WAR once and for all!"
While several denounced such a gesture, most rejoyced banging on their shields. Foghladha and Shinobii shake each others hands and withdrawl their forces. The road ahead lies uncertain, but whatever the outcome, The Dragon Cult have a war on their hands. It's about to get bloody.
The Road Ahead
Beginning September 6th 2011, Season Two of the Telara Saga unites the Guardians and Defiants against the Dragon Cults. Their campaign will fortify each homeland and offer help and support to the newly ascended. Each part of this new saga will focus on cooperatively stopping planar invasions, lead adventures into dungeons teaching the young how to defeat them, hunting and killing the most ferocious creatures, and uniting all of Telara to combat the rise of the Dragon Cult.
