For those of you who enjoy science fiction, I would recommend the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson: Red Mars, Green Mars, and Blue Mars (Red Mars won the Nebula in 1993, and Green Mars won the Hugo in 1994). I read the series about 10 years ago, and the story and hard-SF detail really stuck with me.
So, I decided to read it again (I'm currently about half way through the first book). But, this time I have Google-Earth up on my computer. Google Earth has an option where you can change the globe to Mars. It has all the major features identified, and the 3D terrain is included as well!
So, in this reading of the story, I keep clicking on the Google Mars, and following the characters as the story unfolds. You can zoom into their location, and really have a good look around (the 3D canyons and craters are especially engrossing).
And... its a lot more interactive than just flipping to the little map at the front of the book too... heh heh...
