Ok.. Im a bit old school. We had AC, Str, dex, int, end, wis... easy. Now there are tons more. I am confused. In short

I am a 50 warrior. Got there by questing solo as a pure champ + paragon spec. Now I need to venture out. I see I need three roles. Which stats are most important for these roles. My favorite thing to do is invasions/rifts/crafting atm but I want to do raids/dungeons/pvp and be effective.

To tank.. I know I need tough (thats hard to get outside dungeon) but what other stats are best. Current tough is 51 with a Paladin and something else build

DPS... Which stats to focus on.. Attack points? melee crit? str vs dex? I will probably stay champ (love the big hitting stick) but space my spec out some.

PVP... I will do more. I was headed toward a more magic mitagation/disruption tank

What do I need to focus on for each roles? I am trying to set up armor sets and focus for the different roles and I am lost.

Thanks

Treaa

You're right about needing toughness for tanking, however you only need it when you're tanking dungeons. For DPSer's in dungeons, you need Hit. Tier 1 dungeons you need 50 tough/hit (RotF, IT, KB,FC, LH) Tier 2 dungeons you need 100 tough/hit (DSM, RD, AP, CC, DD) Raid rifts you need about 120 tough/hit. 10 and 20 man raids you need about 150. I wrote a guide just the other day on what gear to get for DPS warriors. http://rift.gaiscioch.com/lore/dps_warrior_12__pre_raid_gear_build_and_rotation.html It mentions that you want to focus on crit, as there is no cap and it works way better for you than attack power does. It's good that you want to stick with the champ, because a you can regenerate power from crits, so you want to be critting as much as you can. A lot of the times, leather gear is better than plate, so if you're DPSing in dungeons, don't be afraid to wear leather cos you should rarely be getting hit anyway. Your attack power comes from both Strength and Dex soo: 75% x Str + 25% x Dex = AP In general for warrior DPS, Dex > Crit > Str > Attack Power. This is of course after you've reached what you need for Hit, and is only my opinion. In general for warrior tanking, Tough > Armor > End > Str > Block > Parry > Dex > Dodge. Just made this part up then, so can be convinced if this is wrong :) I will hopefully have a similar Pre Raid Warrior Tanking Gear spreadsheet soon.

Edit: duhhh. re-arranged STR is way better than block parry, and dex is better than dodge!

To add to what Archy has said, basically Attack Power is completely useless in terms of scaling and its ratios are terrible. Because of this my opinion is that for DPS dex is preferred over strength because it raises your crit. Which as Archy said comes on a lot of leather gear. so imo Dex/Crit/Str/AP. There is a Best in slot list on the warrior forums if you are interested as well as the highest dps cookie cutter raid build.

Yeah true.... if I actually take my own advice in that 1 AP is slightly worse than 1 crit, then it should be Dex/Crit/Str/AP since 1 str gives only 0.75 AP.

Yeah it needs to be changed to 1 Str = 1 AP to at least see if it makes a difference.
