Okay based upon the 1.2 notes here. I would like to see if anyone tested this in PTS? or if anyone is interested in doing these daily or every other day? I've been away from game due to real life stuff, but my daughter (12 years old) got her mage to 40 now and she wants to start crafting 50 Purples and such so this would be big help.

Please comment if you are going to do these and maybe try to put on on event calendar and such so I can let her know or late at night I may run them if she did not get them done during the day.

CRAFTING RIFTS
* Lures for Crafting Rifts and are obtained by completing the new weekly crafting quests in addition to the tradeskill-specific Plaque the quest awards.
* These Rifts drop raw materials, Augments, and other goodies for crafters.
* Reaching the final stages gives a chance of obtaining an additional plaque!
* Crafting Rift lures open a Rift of appropriate level for the zone. In addition, materials awarded are also based on the zone level where the Rift is opened.
* All levels of crafting Rifts give a chance for an additional plaque from the bonus stages, even below your character level.
* Bring your friends and spread the wealth!

I am planning to; I'll try to arrange waiting for some type of organized event. The weekly quest is to get the lures, but they can be used any old time. Was thinking they might fit in nicely to the SAGA Expert Rift events, or their own event. I'll wait and see what develops.

I'm also planning to do these quests. From what I could find on the PTS forums, the crafting rifts went largely untested because they require 300 crafting to obtain the quest. However, keep in mind that the forums are not the most reliable measurement of testing. Judging by the notes, most crafting rifts should probably be opened in Stillmoore and Shimmering Sands so that the higher-level mats drop. However, that's going to largely depend on how difficult these quests are. There are 2 additional plaque items on each vendor (except Artificer, from what I understand).

Maybe as side note on each weekly event the Pre or Post Time of each we can try and do Crafting Rifts in the level 40+ zones? Or if there is strong enough interest in getting this done and more participate then more of the family gets crafting resources we should get sign up going instead? I'm almost level 300 outfitter and Runecrafter with all others coming in at 185-225 range. Yes I slacked off a bit there since my last crafting post update :( But I do have some nice level 32/38 Blues to make now. Mage is already in the shaleweave and Darkmetal :P Hoping to round out the mid level Blues more and then start saving up to get 50's. So anything like these crafting rifts that cane help me out I'm willing to farm or daily to get the lures and then also join in on these as much as possible.

One concern I have with doing these as part of the Telara Saga - call it greed, I suppose. The idea behind the crafting rifts is to provide some additional opportunities for them to give specifically crafting-related drops. The drops (assuming these work even remotely like the regular rifts) are based on achieving a certain threshold of participation in each stage. With the Telara Saga each stage passes so quickly that it would be difficult (if not impossible) to meet that threshold requirement, making it a somewhat counterproductive effort. I'm all for scheduling an event with maybe 10-man raids - that still provides ample opportunity for everyone involved to reach the highest tier of rewards while also 'spreading the wealth'. That would (optimally) give most people 10 chances per week at an extra plaque as well as some extra material drops. While it's not explicitly spelled out anywhere I've seen, I would bet good money that either now or in the near future these will also have the potential to drop recipes specific to crafting rifts.

I am planning on doing these as well, just got my main Bachada up to 300 in Outfitting and want to get as many recipes as I can to make stuff for the guild. Count me in. I do like the idea of doing these as separate 10 man raids for crafters.

Well today was fun for Crafting Rifts. Wanted to thank those helping me and my daughters mage join you all in Stillmoor. Take away was Raid Rifts don't work with crafting lure. Anyone can add more as i was there only for the minor then handed off to daughter.

I was part of about 10 of these, I ended up hauling away 2 armorsmithing plaques and 4 minor catalysts (along with a LOT of other stuff, including enough dust to do next week's crafting lure). For those that took part, I have it up as an unscheduled even with 4 major earth and 6 minor earth rifts. I know there was a mixture of rift types, but I didn't keep track very well. I know exactly how many of each craft, but not the actual type if that makes sense. I think having these set weekly as part of the rift hunt in character-appropriate zones would work great in conjunction with the new gathering quests for guild experience.

It was greatness running these as a group together over and over (both fun as well as outstanding stuff dropped). I'd sign up for any weekly event to do this again (and save my lure for that).

I'd do these, saving my lure for guild event as well. Is public able to walk into a crafting rift just like any other rift? Curious about the point above on getting your participation reduced. If this is true, I'd think people will just hang out in Stillmoor and chase other folk's craft rifts...

First, in the case of these rifts and any others, participation is no longer measured against other players. Unless you are unable to hit a monster two times (one never works, two always does, in my experience) for each phase, you seem to get full credit. I haven't had similarly consistent results with buffing or healing, your mileage may vary. Since these are non-elites, in groups of over 20 people, this may end up being a problem. Monsters may die before a bolt spell reaches them, for example. I recommend low-damage instant abilities. As far as being outside the group - I was outside the group for about ten of these raids last night, and as long as I got two hits on any one rift phase, I got the full planar reward bag after phase 5 (about 10 crafting items, including Minor Catalysts and Planar Dust). I did not receive a Plaque on any of the 3 of said rifts that were appropriate to my crafting type, so I am led to assume that if you're not in the opening group, you can't get plaques. But they are still very lucrative for the other materials.

No, they look just like other rifts in my experience. All the ones I did were in Stillmoor, level 50 and appeared to be a minor rift. Sometimes the rift type was odd for Stillmoor (fire, air, etc) which helped isolate them, though.

Answering my own question for others...from observation in Shimmersand on 6 rifts last night: I never got crafting materials (although I did get normal rift drops) by fighting outside of the opening raid group. I always got crafting materials when I joined the raid group -- even if I joined the rift already in progress. Everyone in a 3 group raid seemed to get the crafting materials...so guessing up to a full raid can get loot. I do not know if the loot is capped and therefore spread thinner if more people join. Curious to know that. Side note: Expert rifts are no joke...don't run into one expecting random PUG raid group to steamroll it. Well, unless you expect to be the one getting steamrolled. :)

I participated in one of the opening crafting rift events earlier. It was a full raid group (at times there were a few spots open) and there didn't seem to be a loot cap. Matter of fact, a few times I got a message saying the loot bag was full!

I did two and found them to be not worth the effort. Since eternals are a pain to get, I had to buy three to make the lure. 4p each. It took more witchweave bolts that I thought necessary and on the whole ended up costing me 15p to make. Since the rifts then ended up being all mats for all crafts, I ended up with 1 catalyst, 1 eternal and a pile of runecrafting mats. Did I mention I am an outfitter? This idea is great but clearly needs rethinking. What's the point in getting a bunch of stuff you can never use for your own crafting, spending more than you are going to get from the items you do get just to make the lure, then having to use the items you DO get to make another lure, not do your own crafting with. It's not expensive enough to craft high level gear already? They had to make the lure cost more than it's worth to bother making it? The items I get go right back into lure making instead of actually crafting? Novel idea? yes. Novelty to do? yes. Ludicrous to require an expensive lure to open? yes. Worth it? No. Ravenclaw

I suppose that if you're buying the mats to make the lure much of the value goes out the window. Then again, if you're in a full raid and you do 6 of these you will probably end up with 6 (or more) eternal dusts as a reward. At least for the Weaponsmithing lure that's the expensive part - the other component is some Shadethorn (I have several full stacks sitting in teh bank gathering dust), some purchased component, and maybe 1 other part that wasn't difficult to come by. I suppose that one way to decrease the cost to a single person might be to keep track of who opens each rift and have everyone who participates chip in an eternal dust. At the end of the day the leader of the group could then divide up the "buy-in" between everybody who used a lure and send them the mats. If you have 18 people and open only 3 rifts that would mean each person crafting a lure would end up with the 6 needed to craft it and all 18 people would also get 1-2 extra dusts plus the augments, essences, plaques, etc. In fact, I think I may try to schedule a weekly event just like this - you definitely get the best bang for your buck with a full raid in these things.

This is great feedback. Regarding the cost of lures and over all impressions. I'm 291 Outfitter and 290 Rune and lower in all my others so far. (I'm working on that by this weekend to help make lures) But yes if you purchase to make lures then only run out and do 1 crafting Rift it is not worth it. I think the biggest gain here is if you can only get 1 lure a week then it would be better as family to schedule this twice a week if possible. So if you can get 6 lures to each event then it makes it more worth while for all to join and run together. Then all the materials you can not use are then stacked and traded to other crafters after the event or now more people can use the marketplace because we can have it up as event participation and you can then ask for the rare ore/hide/cloth dusts and such. I can only think this type of rift and planning as group will only strengthen our family. I'm not 50 yet but by being able at level 40 to participate and do receive the purples and plaque, etc then I can make level 50 Purple Gear to get the +Tough/Hit/Focus on my characters and others that want to start on these Expert T1/T2 Dungeons everyone else is doing. Please keep the feedback coming. And those with leadership please put up time or day when you think best to run this event. I and many others will be willing to assist and help you out.
