Hi, I am new (clearly). Sai/SoAnIs/Iorlach/Peregrine in game.
I mostly plan to play mage, with a side of rogue.
IRL, I tie knots (among other things, of course). Big ones, small ones, etc.
So here's a marlinespike I made today in (mostly) Gaiscioch colours:

144 face globe knot 144VKP, with 2 passes in 1mm cord. Took about 3 hours.
Sadly I don't have any yellow cord, and saffron is expensive. ;)
More complex stuff on my flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/53487722@N07/page8/
If you have a knot you want to tie, or a knot you want to see tied, ask me.

Greetings! I checked out some of your work, that's awesome. I haven't met anyone that does what you do, it is quite interesting. I gotta get a whip sometime, when I went to a friend's house I used one for the first time. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I picked it up pretty quick if I do say so myself, even did a double snap, one in each hand. Wicked stuff hah!

Wow! that is amazing work! I am trying to figure out the scale of the picture. Is that knotwork done around a pin? a nail? It looks tiny!

It's a steel rod, about 5.5 cm (2 in) long, 3 mm (.118 in) diameter. Overall length is about 8.5 cm (3.5 in). The handle is formed from kneadtite sculptable epoxy putty. It dries hard and gives a good grip. Handy since I don't have a lathe to form the wood. I made the spike end by turning the tip of the rod against a grinding wheel. The cord is 1mm in diameter. It's used to get under strands of a knot and pull them open to make tying easier. I have bigger ones, but they're not always practical for fine knot work. Here's a spike a made by PeeJay, a fellow member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers. He's much better at toolmaking than I am. Then again, he has a lathe.
