The Gaiscioch Family is going to use a new Character Classification system you will need to Edit your characters to activate. This will be called Grade

Level 0: Warrior - < 50 Toughness / Focus / Hit (Default)
Level 1: Champion - 50-100 Toughness / Focus / Hit
Level 2: Elite - 101-200 Toughness / Focus / Hit
Level 3: Hero - 200+ Toughness / Focus / Hit

This will be used in the upcoming dungeon system to refine signups. If you plan on doing T1 - T2 - T3 dungeons and raid rifts we need to make sure you keep your grade updated. There will be Grade requirements on higher level dungeons.

Some characters need more than 1 type. For example, if my rogue wants to tank, i need toughness, for dps/heals i need hit. That character would be level 1 for toughness, but level 2 for hit. Are we going to worry about that or just go with the character's primary? (either way is fine, just asking)

Just go with your primary spec. This is a matter of if you will survive or not so its best to not set yourself up for failure and try to tank when your not speced right.

Ok let me see if I understand correctly. I could have all the armor in the world but if my toughness is low I will have a low survival rate? Also to obtain the higher classifications do I need each one of the three "toughness, focus, hit" to be at the level indicated? Sorry, still learning about the game details.

@Wolf: From the Membership menu above, pick "Edit Characters." Then click on the character you wish to edit. Your character is displayed with a bunch of popup menus where you can specify things like class and crafting professions. At the right side of the screen where his name is displayed you should see a popup menu which allows you to specify your armor grade.

Kaytlyn, Toughness reduces the critical damage bonus of boss mobs. Every point you have reduces it by 2%. Every Tier of dungeon/raid, the bosses critical hit bonus increases. Tier 1 - 200% Tier 2 - 300% Tier 3 - 400% Thus in order to make a critical hit turn into a 'normal' hit you need Tier 1 - 50 Toughness (50 x 2% = 100% reduction) Tier 2 - 100 Toughness Tier 3 - 150 Toughness Your other stats are still important. If you have 50 Toughness but very poor armor or health, then you'll still have problems. Also it's important to note that the damage reduction to crits can never take it below a normal hit's damage. So once you hit the cap for the dungeon tier you're at, there is no point to stack it further. If you have questions, just go ahead and send me a tell when I'm on.

Toughness is for tanks. 1 point of toughness = -2% crit damage. This cannot reduce a crit below normal damage. So, for example, a T1 boss will crit for 200% of normal damage. Thus 50 toughness means crits in T1s will simply be normal hits (200-(50*2)=100% damage). No. Well, mostly not. Each is for one role: Toughness for tanks, focus (spell hit) for mages/cleric dps, and hit for non-magic DPS. So if you have a cleric with a spell DPS role, a tank role, and a melee dps role you would need 3 sets of gear to use all 3 roles in T1s. Normally you probably want to focus on one role, or at least one gear type.

I see there is spell power listed in grade scale pop up window. Just out of curiosity, what would be considered normal attack power for T2 and raid T1 for rogues? Thanks!

So according to this grade system, there is no grade for Spell Power. Do healing clerics need focus? Our heals never miss. So how do we grade healing clerics?

Fairybella, If you go to edit characters where you choose your grade, you will see a link underneath the grade drop down menu that says "View Grade Scale" there are spell power grades listed there.

Yes and no Ciarach. Toughness/Hit/Focus are minimum requirements that make you 100% effective against bosses in dungeons and raids. How effective you are after that depends on your other stats, spec, and skill in that class. A good analogy is that if you have less than the minimum T/H/F, it would be like you fighting someone with one hand tied behind your back. Having enough T/H/F doesn't make you a good fighter, it just means you're not a handicapped one. ;0 In order to be effective as a mage, you will need to look at your Spell power, Spell crit, and Intelligence. Those are the true stats that will determine how well you do in a T1, T2, or raid.
