Question about supplying mats via the Marketplace

I'm cramming a lot of crafting, and not a lot of gathering, into two characters. As a result, my Artificer/Weaponsmith doesn't have the Foraging skill, so my Forager is converting Logs to Planks before mailing them off to my Artificer/Weaponsmith. So, when I'm done with them, I have a lot of Planks left over, not a lot of Logs.

When someone requests Ashwood Logs in the Marketplace, would it be acceptable to send them Ashwood Planks instead? If it's not something that's generally okay, would it be possible to let requesters check something that indicated they'd take either?

You should be able to request either Raw or Refined materials. If Ashwood does not have planks in the system yet I'll get our Princess Cindermist or Blocked to add it.

I meant, is it acceptable to fulfill someone else's request for Ashwood Logs with Ashwood Planks instead? To my knowledge, the only thing anyone can do with Ashwood Logs is turn them into Ashwood Planks, and while it's possible someone wants the 10-15 points of Foraging they might get by doing this themself, I'd imagine the vast majority of those who request Ashwood Logs would be just as happy if they were sent Ashwood Planks instead.

To be safe, I'd send them a mail and ask them before accepting their order. I think you're right and that there probably is no difference for them but it's safer to ask first.

I believe there are so recipes that require the raw materials. Thoretically if that statement isn't true then we should remove raw materials all together but I believe some of the artificer stuff requires raw material.

I've been wondering about this as well, as my main character is a pure gatherer... I've also been wondering whether there's a time limit on how long you can take to fill an order - I usually don't have much more than 50-70 of an item in my pack at any given time before moving on to the next tier of resource, and some of the requests are for 150+, which would involve just going out and gathering as opposed to just doing it as I'm questing.

Even better would be the ability to split an order or claim only part - for instance, claim 50 of an order of 200.

That would make things pretty complex... :\ Instead I think that people should place multiple orders of 50 or less, none of the 100-200 orders, because those can be kinda hard to fulfill on a gatherer's part.

I agree with Deft. 200 is just too many. My bank is almost full of mats I'm saving for orders. Being that it's 4 slots to reach 200. With limited space right now I think 50 stacks would be better. At least until Trion raises stacks to 100.

The amount of materials needed can sometimes be high, but I realized that asking for 100 - 200 would entail people going out for sometimes hours just to gather. While some people may like to do this, I decided to be nice. When I want 200 of something I NOW split my orders into 4 orders of 50 each to help the gatherers out. Other crafters might consider this as a courtesy to our wonderful gatherers. Thanks guys, for helping me level my craft when I haven't reached the zones yet where my mats drop.

on metal and wood refineing it for them might be a problem if they ordered it so they could level with it by refineing it them selves its best i would think to send the person whos order you have a tell and ask to be sure... also on the cloth and leather order best to be sure you stick with what they ordered ,, if there a weapons smith they cant use bolts of leather and cloth there recipes require the unrefined stuff

When Requesting materials I would suggest putting them up in Batches of 20 or 50. The Higher the number the longer it will take to get filled. Plus it requires 1 person to fill the full order. My system is just basic right now and I'll improve upon it over time. Right now i have other parts of the site that require attention. One thing at a time :D.

I have to agree - there are a couple of orders for 300! no way will I ever have that much in stock. I have 100 copper in the bank now but can't touch the supply request. Also - I just noticed a request for Burlap that was submitted Feb. 27th but it wasn't there yesterday or earlier today so I'm not sure where it came from. The same with a request that Fog put in for Burlap - just suddenly appeared and when I claimed it - got an e-mail stating I had 24 hours to fill it - which wasn't a problem since I had it in the bank but if it hadn't been there I don't know if I could have gathered it in the 24 hours when I expected 5 days. (I just claimed it on Thurs. night.) I think there is a glitch - maybe.
