Found a couple of excellent guides on being a Bard. The first site contains only Bardic information and also has two excellent guides. One is about the Bard Basics and The Support Bard Guide. Here's the link:

www.riftbards.com/category/bard-guides

The other is a forum post about the above mentioned Support Bard Guide with some excellent discussion. Here's the link:

Let me know if you find any other excellent material for bards.

I was going to be a bard. their awesome and cool and apparently everyone else things so to and bard buffs don't stack. so with them being popular I figured it'd be better to roll an archon for support instead.

I love the Bard. During Beta I think I figured it out. I was top or 2nd heals in every Warfront, with the most Killing Blows. A few times even the most damage to go with the previous. They are a sick, all-around class. I have fun with all my toons, but the Bard is special. Thanks for the info Ariadan. There is always room for improvement. ;-)

Bards are a wonderful class to me. While it's true that the bard buffs do not stack you can stagger the anthems and the fanfares can be staggered (i.e. if you have 2 bards then one can play anthem of glory and the other can play anthem of defiance.) There is some loss those as you can keep up as many motifs as you want and they do not stack. But I have seen a lot of bards around.

Oh, I knew from the start that my main would be a bard, specifically because I'm an RPer and the class best matches my personal RP style. What we should remember is that one is never stuck with a class in Rift! Every Rogue should have a non-bard spec anyway, most likely a DPS or a Scout build. My own will be getting a second role as either an Assassin or Bladedancer for when groups have a higher level bard or don't need another, and a Marksman/Ranger role for ranged DPS when we have a glut of melee. Heck, I am even wondering what it's like to play a saboteur as a main soul. The best part is that I can just keep leveling an playing as a bard, and the roles just need the occasional tending to, so they stay ready. This really is a win/win game for class choice. Plus, I already tanked the Fae Dungeon once as a Bard in beta, so that can be done...
