Thanks for that post - It reminds me why I don't play on PvP servers... heh heh (last time I did was on WoW about 5 years ago, and that wasn't any fun).
I still haven't decided if I will be joining the crew in Rift, or waiting for GW2 but... just in case:
[casts vote for RP-PvE server]

I trust you, but I was a bit worried there would be no PvP minded People on a PvE server and the idea to join up and invade zones where people just want to be left alone and do their quest doesn't sit well with me. Thanks for the description of your experiences, it was quite enlightening.
Berga, the pvp on pve is all consentual. I do plan to siege their city once a month when we get about 20 of us to 50. I also plan on leading some zone wide. Events to try to lure out some world events. There are towns which are permasided, then there are capturable towns. Well be going after the capturable ones to lure out the other side. I also plan to do a lot of griefer patrol. Keep our ears open for defiants killing quest givers the go pummel them. Like the group in glomewood the otherday. Little policing goes a long way :). All in all the game is built on the idea of conquering defiant territory. I can't wait till the launch port scion and we can see what their orvr system really looks like.
This has also been my experience on every PvP server in every game I've played, sadly.
Inevitably I will be persuaded by someone to try a PvP server because "you can't have real immersion without being able to kill whoever you want" and somesuch nonsense.
Then I get there and all it is are CounterStrike rejects who need to feel superior in a video game because their real lives are apparently dismal.
And after that I go back to a PvE server and enjoy consensual PvP. Or in the case of Age of Conan, I uninstall the game.

Thanks Foghladha, I'm very excited now, sign me up! :)
Great read. I personally like the option of choosing when to flag myself for PvP. As far as my playstyle, I would rather just chat with the defiant and help them with rifts. If one of them wants to duel me, that's ok. I just hate getting ganked by, as you said, insecure kids.
The lack of bolstering seriously impairs low level PvP (low for the level range that is) and makes it not so fun in the warfronts for me, though I know it won't matter once I'm at max level.
