I'm impressed with Trion's Marketing team.

I never honestly thought I would see the day where the mere mention of a game on the WoW forums would get deleted so fast. I play WoW and I check some different sites on the game the main one WoW Insider had an article on their site about the Rift ad the Trion just released. That in and of itself is a major coup for them. WoW players are talking about Rift. Good or bad their name is out there now. As I was reading the article I could sense thy author was annoyed by the mention of the game. WoW Insider writers are complete fanboys they live WoW. For on of them to get that bent out of shape to write about Rift on a WoW only site. I must say Trion has me really impressed they must have a stellar marketing team. Good Job to them. Blizzard has noticed Trion and Rift, post on the WoW forums are deleted pretty fast now. I'm interested to see the end result of their marketing.

Nice "hearing" from you again my friend :) Well, you've been on the alpha as long as we bro. You know what their main marketing is going to be. Us. The people in both alpha and beta tests. Since we joined the alpha test, the unanimous opinion was that Rift was WAY more polished than most release games out there. And it was still bugged as hell, as far as the devs were concerned. Now, that most of the bugs were squashed, and with the devs working as hard as before on finishing the bug squatting plus tunning it, positive word of mouth is just going to skyrocket, and that, as we all know, is the most efficient marketing ever. Specially because its one rival companies can do squat about without shooting their own feet with a very large gauge scattergun, as its their own customers spreading the word.

David Reid, the Sr VP of Publishing at Trion is VERY good and he's bringing in some very good marketing folks (At Trion, Marketing is part of Publishing). Just wait until the other 2 efforts get farther along and the cross channel marketing will knlck your sox off. :)
