The dragons are called the "Blood Storm". They are Dread Gods from the elemental planes, their leader is Regulos.They ventured around the cosmos destroying worlds and feasting on Sourcestone. You know the stuff the world was made of and the Guardians think is so holy. When the dragons came to Telara Regulos wanted to destroy it, but the other wanted to rule it. They splintered as a group and a long war between them took place. Cults started poping up to whorship the dragons. The races of Telara banned together and took the dragons on. They inprisoned them one by one. They banished Regulos back to his plane of death. The mages with the help of the gods created a Ward around the world for protection. This all happened aprox 1500 years ago.
The Ward that was created around 1500 years ago is cracked. The Ward that surrounds the world keeping Regulos out is fractured by Aedraxis Mathos. More on him later. The plane of death can now get back in to feed on the world. It comes in and starts destroying the Telara. This event is called the "SHADE". The prisons holding the dragons crack also and they are all now quickly making plans. Example: Akylios (plane of water) creates major hovoc on Kelari Isle. This forces that elven race to flee and they land in Freemarch.
When the Shade swept over the world the forces of the Guardains flee back to Port Scion to rebuild their forces. They have been at war with Aedraxis in the north half of Mathosia. Orphiel and his followers believe that machines are needed to defeat the Shade. The first ascendant Guardians arrive and say no way! They destroy their machines and exile him and his followers. He heads to the Shadowlands. There he digs up old Eth devices and ressurects Asha Catari who died in the war. They end up setting up shop in Meridian.
Who is Aedraxis Mathos?
The Mathosians fielty extends from a long line of kings .. Mathos. Prince Aedraxis is the eldest and heir to the throne. His brother Prince Zeraph rules the eastern city of Port Scion. When the father Joster Mathos mysteriously dies, Aedraxis is crowned king. He proclaims that his reign will bring a new prosperous era to Mathosia. However, he rules as a tyrant using elite knights to instill fear in his subjects. He is obssessed with magic and technoloy, so much that he lifts a ban. His people don't know it, but he hooks up with the "Endlesscourt", a cult that worships Regulos and becomes a leader. A civil war starts between the brothers and The war is to become know as the "Shade War".
A long time ago, after the Ward was created to protect the world, a group known as the "Dragonslayer Covenant' were formed. Their mission in life was to keep an eye on the cults. Their current leader is Orphiel Farwind, his number #1 is Asha Catari. They are located in the Eth land far to the south, When the covenant finds out about Aedraxis, Orphiel sends Asha to warn Zeraph. Aedraxis looks to foriegn aid from the south (Eth/Bahmi). He offers them kingdoms if they will build him machines to win the war.
A united army of Telarans forms under Zareph known as the "Guardians" to fight against Aedraxis. Borrin Gammult mobilizes his Dwarven army and joins Zareph's forces. Shayla Starhearth joins with her High elves. Stanig Malm brings his Runeguard army from Hammerknell Fortress in Moonshade Highlands. The Dragonslayer Covenant joins the war and losses are heavy.
During the "Battle of Thedore Fields", Aedraxis fractures Telaras Ward and the plane of death wipes out vertually everyone. The Vigil start resurrecting the Guardians. Orphiel's followers are wiped out as well and he tries to find a way to siphon the Vigils power in hopes of resurrecting the Covenant.
GAME PLAY AS DEFIANT: You are from the furture and travel back to the past!
The ONLY remaining part of Telara is Terminus. The SHADE (Regulos/Plane of Death) has eatin up all the world. You are resurrected (Ascended) by Sylver inside the last "Life factory" using machines. You are told that you are being sent into the PAST to try and stop all this from happening. You make your way through Terminus learning about what happened in the past and gaining souls, you become a 'True Ascended'. You meet Asha Catari who was the first Defiant Ascended. Her and her forces have fought a never ending battle against Regulos, fleeing as they went. They end up in Terminus. They are now trying desperately to resurrect MORE players as quickly as possible to send them back in time also. You make your way to the Failsafe Device and are shot back into time to just after Port Scion has fallen to Regulos. The continent has not been eatin up yet! It's your job to stop that from happening!!!
GAME PLAY as GUARDIAN: You are from the past and get shot into the future!
You are resurrected by the gods after the battle of Thedore Fields. The shade has happened and it's your job to now stop Aedraxis. You make you way through the zone and battle him at the end with the other Ascendant Guardians. Aedraxis however, gives his life to Regulos. You are then transported into the future to just after the fall of Port Scion. The starter zone now becomes ... 20 years later.
