loved it. so far I personally like how Trion is handling themselves. Active on consumer mediums and responsive when i send them questions. Reminds of old school DAOC Mythic.
The fact they have a sense of humor will keep me around for a long long time!
I want em to run that (plus a bit) during the Superbowl. The timing is about right.
Superbowl is a bit overkill imo.
I posted on a topic like this on the rift forums.
They should realistically stick to advertising on comedy central, tbs, sci fi, and spike. I think this is where a target audience will be found.
I am in no way shape or form known as a gamer outside of family and a select few friends. When a commercial for WoW would come on at the bar or whenever, I would gauge the reaction of my friends to see if any had the reaction of interest. It never came up. On occasion I would hear, "yeah my kid plays that shi*", and I might take the time to explain immersion.
With commercials starting to pop up more often, and people starting to realize a game can make more money and provide more enjoyment than a movie, I can recognize the process.
Online gaming is becoming "professional" wrestling of the 80's.
I'm starting to hook some friends in with Black Ops and other shooters. There's a few guys who show the mental capacity to enjoy an mmo that I'm slowly starting to close in on. It's my own personal sick twisted experiment, and I'm proving to the old lady I can control certain people. In the end I believe it will be SWToR that brings in the millions, and EA will forever be known as the choke artist that fumbled on the 1 yard line.
But yeah Superbowl, not yet.

Running the add on SuperBowl isn't about attracting players. It's about sending a message to the fan base but mostly to the talent pool in the Valley that we came to play. We don't expect to de-throne the giant (THIS WEEK) but we know where he lives and his days are numbered. IF YOU want to help make gaming history give us a shout.
Five years from now, when people ask why did you join Trion? Many people will be able to say, "I saw an add during the Superbowl."

And I thought everyone who talked highly about WoW said they had a sense of humor and why the heck would they be worried about another "wow killer". Legal action over using just the name of the world? Come on, if anyone should have used legal action it was game workshop against blizzard and the ganged raped IP they used to make wow.
In advertising a law passed a few years back that allows you to use it. How many sprint commercials have you seen that use AT&T in the commercial. Or Geiko who show the names of their competitors. It's common practice these days. Remember guys, Activisions Lawyers don't have the best of track records, However Time New Warner's attorneys always win. See Napster. They've got more powerhouse backing them that WoW does and a hell of a legal team. Time New Warner sues people for singing happy birthday in public for god sake. You think Activision is going to stir that pot? I doubt it.
Games Workshop did sue Blizzard. I think they settled out of court.
