So, I used to have 2 660ti cards in an SLI configuration. A little before the holidays one stopped working. Fans wouldn't even spin or anything. i have been running on one card since then.

I am currently not satisfied my the performance of my rig running BDO. I don't think it's just the setting I keep tweaking in game.

I really want a 980, but can not afford one at this time. Would it behoove me to just break down and snag another 660ti off ebay or something and re-setup an SLI configuration? Would it help me any? Or should I just suffer for a few months and save up for a better overall card?

660 ti cards are running between 90ish and 150ish depending on ebay.

As far as the rest of my rig I use an i7 3770k OC'd to 42. GHz and have 16gb ram.

Thanks for any advice or direction in advance.

Have you tried unplugging the PCI power cables from the good GPU and into the bad one to see if maybe it is a PSU rail issue? If not it is feasible that it is the PSU that went bad and not the card. Especially if the fans are not working at all as those should have direct power from the PSU (through the board) and even if the chip had melted and burnt away should still spin.

If the card is indeed bad I would try to save up for the 980 games won't get a huge bump, maybe 30-40% better than what you are getting now by adding a second card. The Fury X2 is coming out soon and AMD's new drivers have boosted ATI cards a decent amount where we should see it affecting NVidia prices here soon. I would expect a 5-10% drop on most cards in the next 3 months.

If you decide for a new card, wait until June for the next generation of AMD cards, even if they prove to be not so great (they're quite promising really) it will probably shake the price of current Nvidia GPUs.

Yes I tried both cards in all 3 slots on my mobo (it can run triple SLI) and tried swapping the power cables around. no dice. The card is just plain dead.

Ok. I will just try and suffer for a few months. thanks for the info... sigh. haha

BDO is very GPU intensive, low load on CPU, kind of opposite of most MMOs.  I'd suggest going with the upgrade, but I went with a 960.  The 970 was too expensive for me and the 980 wasn't even a "coming soon" mention yet.  This was just back in early Dec. when I upgraded on holiday sale prices.

Personally, I like sticking with the X/X60's, as they tend to be the better cards regardless of the generation.
