Here's why they were up 100,000 points or whatever, lol.  I wanted to post this so people don't get too discouraged by the horrifying pie chart, haha.  The fact that ANet posted this and made comments about it says to me they are trying to balance the servers based on this somewhat (let's hope.)  I wouldn't change servers for the world, and we are on a perfectly populated server.  I don't care if I have a MILLION WvW points if I can't ever actually play. :P

Last night's event was AWESOME and I'm looking forward to many many more!

Pretty similar.

Anet to have such details of WvW. Impressed. I had fun last night event. That is all matters.

Thanks for the link to the stats. That is some interesting information. It also explains why some maps have queues and others do not (I have often picked a full map, then switched to another and gotten in immediately). It seems like the maps that are easiest to get into are also the maps that need the most help. But, from my understanding, our opponent servers will change over time as our ranking goes up-and-down. So, we shouldn't be too concerned with overall map population, just with the quality and skill of our opponent. Sorry I missed Wv3 last night - I couldn't even get in the queue until after the kids went to bed at 8:30.

Interesting. Shorter queue times for Blue and Green borders so far on our server. Glad we're not on HoD. Pretty much never an instant queue no matter what borderland.. lol. I think they're going to have to eventually do something about night capping. You'll see people make statements like "Well that's how war is, you wouldn't see Napoleon not attack simply because his enemies were asleep" and similar foolishness. If you're trying to compare a game to real life you'd have to remember in real life an army that's asleep and got attacked would be woken up by its night guards and rally to fight back. Instead these night cappers are simply walking up to empty keeps (besides pushover NPCs) and planting their flag in "victory", gaining full points. It's just silly. I'm surprised ANet didn't figure this would happen and do some sort of modified point system giving a multiplier dependent on the number or percentage of defenders for locations. For an empty location that you capture they should award 10% of the points or something, with more defenders raising the percentage. Night cappers would still gain points, but it wouldn't be such an overwhelming amount keeping the sleeping servers from possibly catching up. Guilds that aren't in prime US times are on servers with similar time guilds because they want a population to PvE with. If ANet expects all Oceanic guilds to move servers (and US guilds to Oceanic heavy) I think they'll be disappointed.

Very interesting graphs and it's cool of Anet to give some data like this to the player base. I've been in WvW several nights since the latest weekly match started. It has been challenging and it has been somewhat discouraging at times. I don't take it all that seriously though I do try to do my best and play hard when I am in there. But when I feel a bit discouraged I try to look at the bright spots. I've seen some epic defense of keeps and I've seen some epic keep captures. Last night when we managed to finally take Dreaming Bay and reclaim the orb I had a great feeling of pride for our guild and our server. It was a great way to end the last full night of this week's match. No doubt this morning we may hold nothing more than a single supply camp if that, but we do shine during the evenings U.S. time. If anything, Fort Aspenwood got tougher and tougher as the week went on. I think we sharpened them. Of course they had all 3 orbs which didn't make things any easier for us. But I also think they sharpened us and we'll be all the better for whoever we face tonight after the reset. Personal highlights this week: 1. Taking Dreaming Bay last night. It was a great call to move to the south gate. We fought tooth and nail to take that and we prevailed. Very epic. Kudos to all involved. 2. A late afternoon (U.S. Central time) running defense of Etheron Hills. We had guys manually running supplies from Astralholme to EH and each time FA attacked they got less and less until they finally gave up. I don't remember which day this was, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. But it was cool seeing the smaller force (SoR) hold out against repeated assaults due to hard work. Running back and forth from supply camps doesn't get you much in the way of XP or medals but it's cool people stepped up to do some "grunt work" for realm pride. 3. A Fort Aspenwood guy who I ran into 1-on-1 and who beat me. I had my ranger on at the time and we were chasing FA out of Arah's Hope. FA was running and we were trying to wipe them as they ran. I was after a guy along with a few others. Well I was working at this one guy and suddenly noticed it was just him and me. The others had broken off. So it became a one-on-one fight which I lost (my ranger is level 28 and I'm honestly not all that good). The cool part was the FA guy stopped and bowed after he beat me. I would have bowed back if I wasn't taking a dirt nap at the time but it was cool seeing the honor on the field.

Definitely interesting to see the shorter queues times for Green. It's quite a difference.

If they were to 'do something about night capping' you'd be hurting those that don't get to play during prime time. I doubt that would happen. It has nothing to do with comparing in-game war to real life war.. it's everything about being accessible to as many people as possible.

It is also interesting is how much more often they queue for Eternal Battlegrounds (usually the longest wait for green) rather than their own Borderlands (usually the longest wait for red/blue).
