After playing through my first character to level 80, I thought what next. The GW2 world has an immense variety. Checking some blog and video posts, I decided to try the storyline from a different perspective. First I played a Sylvari Ranger since I mostly solo PvE. This worked out well. Next was an Asura Elementalist. Again, not to bad for soloing, as long as you pay attention and keep an elemental or two hanging around. Then a Charr Warrior followed by a Human Engineer and then a Norn Guardian. Everyone is in various stages of reaching level 80.
What does all this have to do with the storyline? It made me realize just how much effort went into the story creation. Each race has it's own part of the overall story. Each character's story is affected by the choices you make during creation. This gives an additional level of variety to tale. If you are one of those people that love stories that jump back and forth from different characters and multiple points of view, then I would encourage you to create 3 or 4 characters of different races, backgrounds, and professions. Play each one for a few levels then switch out. Choose different orders. This adds more layers to the story since choices made after you join an order also continue give branches to the storyline.
All this is just the basic story. I have only briefly glimpsed some the the newer adventures in HoT and PoF. I did figure out how to get gliding. That is sooooo handy and has saved my ass more than once. While I haven't had the opportunity to join in too many guild activities, I have immensely enjoyed them. And there is yet another way GW2 adds flavor to the story by providing a way for gaming friends and family to gather.
