This is pretty cool. Unless your opponent has some serious condition duration boosts, this will help your warrior shrug off conditions very effectively.

6 Superior runes of melandru = -25% condition duration

Dogged March (10 pts in Defense Tree = -33% condition duration

Lemongrass Poultry soup = -40% condition duration

Total = -98% condition duration.

Stop that, Mr. Necro. That tickles!

That's kind of awesome, especially since conditions are the bane of a Toughness-based warrior. I'll have to check it out when I play mine next.

Have you noticed it making a big difference? I ask because I have seen people posting the other side of the argument stating that unless you get over 100% boost to duration it wasn't making a difference. Not sure how that works the other way around.

I haven't tested it out much but most conditions last less than 2 seconds. I have a feeling that durations always round up the next whole second, the same way that stuns are.

I know burning doesn't round up, at least that was the 100% buff discussions I have seen. I assume it works the same for other conditions. The problem with burning is the short duration.

I thought Dogged March only works for movement related conditions? Could be a bit misleading to just say it reduces 33% of all conditions :s

After more than a year I'm still trying to figure it out.  :(  But I've been looking for a way to reduce conditions on my characters and Lemongrass Poultry soup is now looking pretty tasty.  :)

Don't forget Berserker's Stance.  May as well clear all conditions due to how fast it reduces duration.

Dogged march only works on crippled, chilled, and immob. Everything else lasts -65% shorter unless your opponent uses +40% condi duration food in which case everything will last 25% shorter. If they run 30 points into a tree that gives them 30% increase condi duration on top of condi duration increasing traits, then the whole set is nullified but condis will still last a shorter time on you than if you didn't run the setup. After using this anti condi setup for a very long time on my warrior, it certainly does help but it's not a guaranteed win against condi players who know their game well. It will help reduce their overall damage, but often times you just have to dodge key attacks, use berserker's stance, and generally outplay them to win.

In a zerg setting, however, it has a considerably greater effect due to additional condi clears, team support, etc. It's saved my life countless times and I would highly recommend using it.

Here's my mostly final build for this. First and foremost, this is a brawler build. It excels on zerg v zerg battles where you can wreak havoc with stuns and aoes while healing your allies. For anyone who hates annoying things like dying, this is the build for you. I cannot say enough good things about this build for large scale battles. Damage output is modest, but survivability is incredible. With melandru runes, healing signet, adrenal health, and lemongrass poultry,  conditions slide off you while you heal for 600-900 per second. Oh and by the way, with this build shouts heal too so the sources of healing are endless.

Brief explanation of play style:

Movement: Should be on S/WH for movement out of combat, to enter combat, and leave it. #2 lets you leap into combat, and #4 gives swiftness. Try to blow the horn (#4 and #5) immediately before engaging. Once in combat, switch to hammer and play some whack a mole. If you need a quick exit from combat, switch back to S/WH and hit #4 to lose conditions and #2 leap out. I rarely switch weapons while in combat because I hate actually trying to fight with S/WH.

Combat: Basically, go berserk. Seriously. Essentially, your role is to soak up enemy damage, frustrate the enemy, and support your team with shouts. The last thing you want to do with this build is stop moving. Let your team finish off the downed while you find someone else to annoy. I like to look for opportunities for jumping into combat from height so I get that added benefit of launching foes to interrupt/annoy. I rarely ever target one foe, but rather look for clusters of squishies cowering in the back of the enemy zerg to target for earthshakers. I usually pop FGJ first when i need my first healing boost and for team support. Fear me is great for sending foes off cliffs or in the wrong direction if you can cut them off when they try to flee. The stomp utility is one of my favorites. Not only does it grant stability, it also is an aoe launch, so anyone standing by a cliff is going to get a gravity finisher (launched 4 BGs with one last night right near the south garrison vista. that was sweet). I tend to save it for situation where I need to get away, or when a bunch of foes all bunch up to try and rez their buddy. Also, with the tankiness and healing this build gives, you are awesome for getting the downed up, even under heavy AC fire.

Runes and sigils: I used to run soldiers runes but found melandru's stun and condi mitigation is better for large fights. Who needs to cleanse condis when they only last a couple seconds anyway. I run a sigil of life on my hammer and when i have 25 stacks, switch to one with a sigil of paralyzation. Sigil of energy is good if you like to dodge a lot. Sigil of generosity would be great but goes for almost 30g now. Wish I had bought a stack a couple months ago when they were 10g.

BTW, hammer damage is getting a big nerf on Dec. 10. I don't really do much damage to begin with so am not that concerned.

Lastly, do not run this build for solo play or roaming in wvw. The damage is just too low. 1v1 fights last FOREVER, so I ignore small groups and stick with the zerg. Interestingly, most roamers know this build well enough to not bother with you. Even if they do attack, they'll give up after you drag them halfway across the map.

I updated my build recently to reflect the fact that down in the lower tiers, groups of enemies tend to be smaller and I can ease back on the tankiness and add some offensive power. Only major change is taking 20 points out of Tactics and adding to Discipline. The 10 points in strength to get Death from Above is totally optional. I just like being able to jump off cliffs and dive bomb people. If you are not into cliff jumping, I would put the 10 points into Tactics to get Quick Breathing for additional condi clears or Desperate Power for more DPS.

Additionally, I think there is some confusion as to how the condition duration on YOU lasts. The condition the person applies has a set amount based on their buffs, say 8 seconds (may have been 6 seconds with 33% condi duration boost or began at 8 seconds), then your condi duration is taken out of it. So say you have 65% then that would only last 3 seconds (roughly). Attacker condi duration is applied first and then defender condi duration is taken from the adjusted amount. They don't cancel each other out exactly. So even if they have a five second chill with two hundred percent condition duration, that wouldn't last longer than a single second on this warrior build.

Yeah, some condis are laughably short. I have been feared before and it seems like I move backward for only a few frames before I lose the condition and continue moving forward. I sometimes wonder how many conditions I missed because I blinked at the wrong time.

I actually experimented with Spartan's stance build. If any of you have seen Spartan in action on his warrior, he attacks 20-man zergs by himself and gets away clean by perfectly timing the use of berserk stance, balanced stance, endure pain, and the defiant heal. He can basically run amok for 10-12 seconds while being effectively invulnerable. His build requires incredible timing that I could not master so I am sticking with my original build for now. I am convinced that Spartan's build caused enough QQ from his victims to precipitate yet another warr nerf. Thanks a lot, Spartan! /sarc.

However, Spartan's build did teach me that swapping out a utility for balanced stance is a good idea when fighting larger groups. Even if you can survive it, it kinda sucks being the first man through the door and getting targeted with every CC the enemy can dish out.

Someone mentioned the stances and I briefly look at them tonight while I was on my baby warrior.  Are there traits that complement the stances? I've heard about a stance build, but haven't seen any examples of it.

Sure-footed in defense line gives you 25% increase to stance duration. Defense is such an awesome trait line I would take 6 of them if I could.

So, I finally got my warrior to lvl 80... that was a bit anti-climactic, as I was crafting at the time and didn't realize how much exp that gives so quickly... Anyway, I'm at 80 in Soldier gear, and my short term goals are to stay alive in WvW until I can get grounded and learn the ropes. I'm using six x divinity runes, just to bring up my stats and am using hammer/gs. Any advice on what build I should start working towards to best support teaming in WvW and dungeons, if and when I ever get there?
