Its not afaik. I think that Anet has addressed the problem and said that they are working on it. I think.
I'm roughly 80% through world completion and haven't noticed any issue. What is the "star issue"? I couldn't find anything on it when googling, so can't be as helpful in my reply as I'd like. Tell me more?
I have 100% world completion with my mesmer. What is the "star issue" you speak of?
When you complete the map you get a star next to your name, your clones don't, which makes you identifiable from your illusions without having to tag you.
