Amazing! Really wish we could get this made an official Saighdear =(
I don't have the rank so I couldn't and Conner decided he wasn't going to. I personally think it should be Saighdear myself as well.
I mean.. even Wildstar.. a game that Gaiscioch would *never* support because it is scifi and not fantasy is going for a Saighdear branch...
Honestly I really don't agree with the reasons given as to why FFXIV can't be a Saighdear. It seems to meet all the criteria and every other Saighdear game has been able to choose just one server to play on. People can choose to play a game on a server with Saighdear, or not, just like every other game out there that's supported.
We've already picked a world and IMO we are there trying to encourage fun in a relaxed environment *shrug* Last thing I want to do is cause drama about it though... I'm just along for the ride, really ;P
You are 100% missing the point Saren. Fog and I have both already explained it. The issue is not the game. It is that nobody with the rank able to make a Saigdhear has stepped up and created one. We put the offer out there, we had no takers. It is that simple :)
I am not able to lead FFXIV due to my workload this semester. So I was not able to make the commitment required of a Saigdhear leader at this time. Instead, I will be supporting and helping Connor in whatever direction he decides to go because I have faith in his leadership abilities. However, I have a much reduced workload when Wildstar is released, so can commit to that one.
Any chance we can focus on the game rather than whether it has a title of Saigdhear attached to it? Does it really matter?
We have 40+ people planning to play with us on Excalibur, which is more than a good start for Echoes Free Company. I am sure we can make a good go of the game regardless.
It's about time invested in PROPERLY leading by the gaiscioch book. Additionally, the guild name would mandatorily have to be "Saighdear" and personally, I dont like that as a guild name.
Additionally, With 3 children and a full time career, I cannot lead as would be required on a constant basis if properly representing gaiscioch. And aside from the other 5000 reasons I can list this endeavor will be a lot better as a non-saighdear, I simply feel given the style, time availability and people playing a more relaxed approach allows me and others in leadership roles to be able to actually play the game instead of worry about constant event planning as a requirement, constant upkeep, and a lot of WORK that comes along with it. I understand people crave structure and stability, and you will get both within Echoes. But for those in leadership, it will be an enjoyable experience as well.
Literally looking at it functionally, there's really no difference in this and an "official" saighdear, we even have an official forum area (thanks to ben's kindness and understanding of what we're trying to accomplish) and he is also in support of whatever makes the family happy. Again, I want to remind anyone who hasnt had the point rung in their heads absolutely, that we are still gaiscioch leadership (Draios, officers etc) and this isnt going to be some willy nilly loosey goosey shady backwater operation. It's gaiscioch but without the "official" backing...think Gaiscioch Ultra Light :)

I was just expressing my opinions. Not trying to make a big public scene ;P I had wanted to start it as a Saighdear long before I knew you wanted to play, Conner. I just didn't have the rank to do it heheh
Already made my peace with it a while back, but, sometimes the posts I make get passionate because I care a lot about it. Maybe I just don't express it as well as I like either ;P
In any case lets get back to waiting for the game to come out and have fun :)
edit* As a sidenote, I prefer echos as well ;P
Great! I didn't take anything you said as an offensive or attacking, just wanted to set your mind at ease, everything will be the same, just less work for the people having to maintain it :)
regardless if this game goes "Saighdear" or not i'm looking forward to joining the Free Company this family creates. and Echoes sounds like a nice FF guild name
