Guide: Farming Crafting Racial Motifs - Glenumbra Bank (9 available containers)

Troy's guide to motifs is excellent. For those that even want less hassle can try the following method below. Still loot the same containers as Troy's but this time all is within your sight in 1 room. This method works for all races/zones and has the easy access of dumping everything into Banker that is right beside you. Inspired was given by fellow guildie, though I forgot exactly his @ name. 

1. Create a character - choose Daggerfall Convenant race
2. Skip Tutorial
3. Appear in Glenumbra
4. Run straight to the Bank
5. There are 9 available containers to loot within sight (4 tables, 2 trunks, 2 nightstands, 1 shelf)
6. Loot like mad 
7. Relog or choose another char to loot

While price of motif has quickly dropped, I figure this relog thing won't work forever. ZOS might nerf it sometimes in the future. This is also good way to stock up on lockpicks or racial crafting materials. I believe there exist a few similar Bank areas where there are at least 8-10 containers around you.

My friends and I were discussing this the other day. For me it feels too much like taking advantage of poor design (aka exploiting) so I'll pass. I can't imagine it was the developers' intention for people to so easily get Motifs and that's what this leads to.

I would imagine they'll end up having to track motif collection rates per character/account or something and then enforce a cooldown on respawn or dynamically adjust the loot tables to not include motifs if a certain threshold is it, etc. all of which will require more development and testing time.

I'm not going down this road, mainly because I enjoy playing more than (re)logging constantly. But I don't see it as an exploit either. Doing something so mind numbing over and over again for nothing better than a cosmetic tool everyone will eventually have just by actually playing the game sounds more like something developers would be laughing at players about than trying to fix. 

All my motifs I got during questing. Average  I got 1 book per 1 or 2days usually.

The moment I read this post today before work and anyone replied to it I knew it would not set well with some lol. I agree with Mickey tho about it not really being an exploit. An exploit by definition maybe (simple fact that you are taking advantage of a situation) but obviously it is not a bug because of the fact that they put 9 boxes to loot in that particular room but like Mickey also said just poor game design at the worst. This would be one of those instances where I feel if anything at all is done about it, they would simply take out some of the decor there to be looted. Not a "you're banned" for exploited our game scenario.  While I have not taken advantage of this (scouts honor lol) I did notice the same thing with my 1 daggerfall toon I made compared to my other 5 ebonheart ones. I was like "what the heck, I only get 1 chest in Davon Watch and it's usually empty!" Anyways the more the game is played the less the motifs  will be a hot commodity since everyone will already have them in general. Right now it's all new and like a race to get them all asap but like Xrande already said the prices are already falling and it's only the 1st week.  Therefore this will probably not even be a real issue with developers like some of players think it should/might be. But what do I know, each to his own!

I'm level 10,with 2 other level 10 alts, and I've yet to find even one of these things.  I'm just not that lucky.

I'm right there with you Herr.  I search everything as I quest and although I have leveled several skills I have yet to find a single Motif on my own.  Was given a couple by very kind guildie.

I picked up 4 in an hour from Daggerfall bank, but each was with a different character. I was logging in my crafting characters to clear out my bank, which had rapidly filled up, and do some crafting with the materials. I also looted all the containers each time I went to the bank.
