Letting Elder Scrolls Online Sleep for Now

It's never easy to say goodbye to a chapter. We have seen a gradual transition in Elder Scrolls Online over the years. It began as a vibrant MMORPG community with our membership exceeding 1,500 active players.  In 2018 we hosted the Chronicles of Tamriel and cleared zone after zone as a massive group exploring the far reaches of Tamriel. In Alliance vs Alliance, we ran upwards of 3 raid groups at a time and conquered Elder Scrolls for the Ebonheart Pact.

Our history is lined with fond memories and exciting times and it is sad to see what it has become. Over the years changes were made that began driving players out of groups and off on solo adventures. The game dynamic changed and with it, our community began to slowly drift apart. For years I tried to host events only to have an exciting start and watch as it faded to nothing time and time again. The core of Elder Scrolls Online has become soloable and now communities like ours simply aren't needed anymore in Tamriel.

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to finally pull the plug and let this chapter go dormant. That said if you'd like to lead events in Elder Scrolls Online or pick up the mantle and give it a shot to run with it, let me know. I'd love to keep our Elder Scrolls Online community alive in some form or another but it's become very silent over the years. For the past two months, we've had less than 5 people log into our site and even view the Elder Scrolls Page to see if there are events coming up.

I do hope that something brings us back in the future and the chapter will keep full functionality via our website. However, we're not going to be devoting resources and manpower towards it until it shows some spark of interest in our community. This is a wonderful game and it makes me sad to see how much of a solo game it has become. The group events we had we're legendary.

I certainly had a lot of fun in the game, the lore and quests are fantastic, the action combat while it's different, it did stick to their ES lore and traditions.  It was sad that they started leaning towards the "solo everything" way, which is what the loudest audience demanded years ago, even sadder that a lot of that loud audience already moved on and left the game they wanted to others that wanted it a bit differently.

A quick check of Gaiscioch in ESO shows 74 accounts have logged in within the past week. There are a variety of reasons that ESO users don't engage with the website very much, not limited to familiarity of the event schedule, fatigue or lack of interest in the website point system, and the lack of support in the Marketplace. Obviously, Fog doesn't care for ESO anymore. Apparently, that's all it takes to put the second most popular game in the guild to sleep.

I made this decision after talking with Sir Henry who also is having attendance problems and relayed to me that most of the time there are only 1 or 2 people online at a time. I have tried repeatedly to try to get activity going in ESO and unless I bring people with me there isn't any. We have not have 5 people LOOK at the ESO section in months. Not login and claim participation, not list an event on the calendar. Simply LOOKing at the ESO page would update the timer for them. When I have signed in and try to spark conversation I get no reply... ever. I get that some people want to play this game together and I'm not removing it from the site, I'm simply not asking elders to make it a part of their day-to-day rotation anymore. It will function like all our other adventures function. If you want to run events, you're welcome to it.

Beliar, what would you have me do? Please share some ideas for solutions and I'll see what we can do to make them happen. I just don't know what else to try. If you have suggestions I'm open to hear them out. I really don't know what to do at this point. I can't force people to play together or talk to each other.
