Tosaíonn Mo Chuid Ama Mar Lorgaire

By: Bryen

My time starts as a Tracker

Hard to believe it's been only seven days. 7!!!

A week ago I was waking up rather groggy and logging in for my third activity in Gaiscioch. Shortly after completing Eluveittie's map event this morning I received notification of my advancement. I hope that the excitement of seeing the little bot post about me this morning never wears off. I was a big day for promotions, so I want to take a moment to congratulate the others that moved forward this morning.

Robotunicr0n was Awarded The Rank Of Muintir de na Sailetheach
Salithrin was Promoted To Ban Saighdiuir de na Faolchu
Iosaf was Promoted To Seaimpin de na Iomproidh
Gwynhefar was Awarded The Rank Of Ban Caomhnoir de na Iomproidh Buí

I am honored by the trail you all have blazed before me and appreciate the example you set! I hope to one day honor the family by becoming a Laoch and joining the ranks of those whose memory and assistance have made our guild so enduring.

My mind is racing regarding where to start today. Having led events for 5 years in [PATH] and [OrG] there are a number of great activities that we developed and enjoyed. In an effort to slow myself down I have posted to the Event Leaders channel in Discord with the hope that I might get some additional suggestions from veteran leaders about what works best right now in [GSCH]. This is the largest guild I have ever been a part of some I'm sure there are some things to keep in mind.

I spent a few moments speculating on where things go from here before sitting down to write today. Scrolling through the rank system page and following the evolution of growth in the family leaves me a bit conflicted at the moment. I loved the leadership position I had previously when we had our own guild, but I'm not sure I want to be in that role again. Toward the end of [OrG] last year those of us in the leadership roles became a bit resentful of having to be responsible for everyone's fun in GW2. The changes to new content availability certainly contributed to the pressure of feeling like the guild was responsible for giving people a reason to log on every week. In many ways I think that is what ruined GW2 for me for about 6 months.

There are definitely some lessons to be learned from those reflections and a lot of that is probably the boundaries that I need to keep as a leader going forward. I'm no good to anyone if I'm not enjoying what I'm doing. I think that [GSCH] might allow for better spread of this responsibility and I hope to develop some relationships with other leaders that might help me balance myself a bit. This seems like a good time to write my own personal credo for this phase of my time:

"Today I am full part of the Gaiscioch Family. Being part of this family means needing to have Boundaries and Self-Awareness so that I can contribute fully and be present. I can not give fully to the family if I am not taking care of myself. I will do all that I can, but I will not offer to do more than I can. This family deserves my best and only I can make sure I am at my best. I will ask for help. I will say no when that is best for my well being. I will be present with the Family when I log in. I will be present in my life when I log out."
