Scroll Of Ghartok Returns Home

By: Kaytlin

A small but intrepid group of adventurers ventured into the lands of the Dominion, all with a common goal and focus, Restoring the Scroll of Ghartok to its rightful home. It mattered little that there may be skilled and battle scarred vetrans of at least 10 campaigns facing this focused group, they were intent on their task and would not waver.
There path was laid by the brave adventurers who came before them. The ones who had laid down their own lives and honor to blaze a path that would open the way to the scroll. It would not have been possible without their tireless efforts. With the pathway clear to the castle holding the scroll the small group set up seige engines and began the time consuming task of taking down the gates of the castle. As the seige progressed all waited for the enemy to mount a counterattack. Our group continued the focus on the castle and breached the outer gate. A brief battle occurred withing the inner walls, but was quickly ended by our group. The inner gate was our next target. By keeping constant watch for a counter attack we were able to eliminate the few that responded.
After what seemed like days the inner gate finally went down and we advanced towards the scroll, not wishing to delay too long we decided to take the scroll and make the long run back to our own lands and the scrolls home.
Running towards our first bottleneck we sent advanced scouts to ensure we would not meet with much resistance. Reports of enemy scouts, that quickly met their doom were encouraging.
We kept trailing defenders behind the scroll to delay the eventual response, which finally began to materialize. We encountered several vetrans of varying experience. Six seasons was the average for those who pursued the scroll.
We suffered several casualties, but by constantly renewing at castles along the way we were able to keep a fair sized defensive group around the scroll
As we approached the Gate of Gartok we again sent scouts to anticipate a response from our enemy. They must have decided we had outmaneuvered them for the attack never came.
As the cheers began to ring in the ears of our small group as we approached the Scrolls home a feeling of accomplishment spread among those that remained.
As we approached the resting place of the scroll and attempted to place the scroll we encountered a brief feeling of dissappointment as the Gods would not allow the scroll to be placed! How had we displeased them? We discussed many options but finally decided that our scroll carrier would perform the ultimate act of devotion. He sacrified himself to the gods and dropped the scroll to allow another to place the scroll.
No greater love!
