I'm going to play devil's advocate to this issue. I think there is more gray to this issue than just pure black and white. Bear with me here while I list the reasons why I find legitimate reasons to the complaints and negative comments.
1> Alot of the comments are just people expressing their confusion with what has changed and how things work now. Mythic did a very poor job explaining how the new mechanics work in oRvR. There are also a myriad of bugs in the patch which Mythic has yet to respond to or admit to. To this day, I'm still not sure what percentage of resources you get when you kill the opposing factions resource carrier. It says right on their patch notes from Mythic that the number is 25% but I've heard 75% more than once in our chat. I'm not saying all the comments stem from the confusion and lack of information, but I am saying a good portion of it is.
2> It's therapeutic. ;0 I'm not a psychologist nor do I play one online, but I think it's good for people to vent and complain a little. Granted if you continually do it then it can get rather irritating but part of accepting the new changes is being able to express your feelings about the changes and move on. I don't think anyone has excessively complained too much but then again, I am not listening half the time. 8) Seriously, for a lot of us, being able to talk about the changes and our disappointments with the changes helps us deal with it and hopefully push us along the path of recovery. Again, I'm not condoning everyone's actions here, I'm just saying that being understanding of people's feelings works both ways.
3> Finally, there are alot of people who are on the fence still or who have cancelled their subscription but will continue to login until the term ends. In my humble opinion, telling these people not to speak about WAR unless it's in glowing terms discourages them from coming online and isolates them from those of us who are still playing. Maybe I'm an eternal optimist, but I kinda want them to keep coming on because maybe when they play long enough, the draw of the game and the great atmosphere we have in the family will change their minds at the last moment. For me, that slim chance that they might not really go after all is worth the small discomfort of hearing a lot of rehashed complaining on vent.
I assume that this has something to do with the guild event last night in T3. To me, alot of the comments were about there not being any Destro to fight. Granted, the blame was laid on the new changes but if this was pre 1.4 and we had a guild event where we did nothing but kill npcs, I think there would be a lot of complaining also. ;0
Anyways, I'm not trying to say deal with the complaining. But I just think we can be more understanding of the people who stay while also being supportive of those who are unhappy and are contemplating leaving at the same time.
Happy thanksgiving!
