Sorry to be a nagging nancy but I just wrote an awesome guide for the GW2 guide and tutorial forum that took me hours.

The automatic logout feature borked this up and though I'm an it guy and I should know to save and save often this was a considerable dissappointment.

I'd like to suggest very generous (like a day) automatic logout timers to prevent this unless the webadmin has had problems with people hi-jacking internet sessions and hurting the family site in the past.

In my opinion it's just a nuacense feature that belongs on a store site or a banking site but not on a forum.

Thanks,

I love this group.

I have had that happen to me on other sites.

If it is going to be a lot of text and therefore time consuming, I type it up in Word (or other word processor). This gives me a saved backup, plus then I can check my crappy spelling as I go.

Then when ready I past it into the forum post.

If you turn on cookies in your edit profile your session will last until your IP address changes. For Sessions you might think it's not a big deal but we run over 1 million queries every 60 minutes. This site gets hammered with traffic. If I was to keep the session open all day this site would drop and become unavailable for anyone in a matter of minutes. I built the cookie feature to work around this. While it has some problems too it for the most part works flawlessly.

Also when you hit submit and then have to log in again, login quickly and your post should be saved and auto-enter into a new post window. I built a failsafe for that reason.

I don't have that problem here (probably because, as Ben suggested, I have cookies turned on in my profile), but everywhere I've made habit of doing a quick Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C (select all, copy) before posting anything over a quick paragraph or two. Saves a ton of heartache...
